Nice dog  :)

.... Oh and nice bird too  ;) jk good looking bird you have there!

Thanks. To tell the truth, that pup never knew that bird was there until it was dead on the ground. The dog in the background is the one that found it, but I couldn't get her to pose with it. On the way in we saw this 11 point buck that some lucky hunter had arrowed.

Haha, well practice only makes perfect!!

I also like the name Fred, i've always gave my dogs real names. I think names like Sugar, and Cinnamon are stupid.

My dog has nabbed plenty of birds and squirrels in the backyard, and I've have to do alot of digging, his name is Dave. We got him from the pound and man, he loves to point. I lucked out !

He has Lime's disease, which is why he's so skinny.

Nice looking pup, BCxE. I'm sure you brought him to a vet right? If blood tests for Lyme and Anaplasmosis are positive, they should give you some Doxycycline. Some dogs aren't bothered as much as others. One of my dogs (85 pound Boxer) cries like a baby, my hound just looses his appetite. One mo. supply of Dox. and he should be good to go. Ticks are nasty round here. Good luck with him.

Yep B-Dozer, as soon as we got him we took him to the vet for all his shots, de-worming etc. I know he's positive for Lyme's but don't know about Anaplasmosis.

He doesn't seem to be bothered by it though. The only time he ever really whines because of joint pain is when trying to jump on my mom's bed ( Its like 4 ft. off the ground). He's slowly putting on some fat though.

Doxycycline should get rid of both L&A. Best to get antibiotics started sooner than later. Thank you for adopting from Animal Control. I've worked with AC and shelters, too many really good dogs there w/o going to breeders.

Is that an expensive med? or is it relatively cheap? Because money here is VERY tight.

And I always adopt family pets from shelters and AC. The only time I would pay for a dog is if im looking for a hunting dog with certain traits etc. But for just a buddy dog, I wouldn't go to a breeder.

Your dog looks about 40 pounds, right? I'd say the meds will cost about 40-45 dollars. If money is tight, just tell the vet up front. Might give you a break, or no blood test, especially since you just had him there for his shots. I wouldn't let it go it can really be bad. The vet should have told you about this, he must have noticed right?

When we first got him, the bloodtest was Positive, so we dont need one, but we were never told of any meds for him.

And yep, he's right around 40-45 pounds so im glad to know it shouldn't cost much, I'll make an appointment for the vet to see what they can do. I'd hate for him to lose his appetite or have serious joint pain  :-[

Great, good luck with him, bet he's a swimmer.

Actually, he's completely afraid of water, haha. We tried to get into into a kiddy pool, and he would have nothing to do with that! ;D haha.

I don't know how he would react to say a lake or pond though.

When it warms up, go in yourself and call him. Bet he comes right to you. Or let him see another dog in the water. Tried to post some of my dogs pics., but I guess they're too big. I take my 85 pound Boxer, and 75 pound hound in my kayak with me. They love it

When it gets warmer i'm going to take him to the local river beach. Its only about 2 and 1/2 feet deep as far as the eye can see, so If he does go down I can save him. And shallower water should warm up quicker.

Last time I took him there while I was fishing he was having a field day with about 200 ducks! ;D

Lunch? :)

He just like to bring moving things back to me. Fall is his favorite season because of all the falling leaves. If he sees a leaf fall he thinks its some sorta animal and will bring it back to me in his mouth. Gives me a little laugh every time! He kills for playing fetch.

He's your best friend for life. Dogs make great fishing partners, always ready to go, don't complain if you stay too long. Enjoy him. :)

I love every second of him!

And we really kinda hijacked this thread LOL ;D

Thanks. To tell the truth, that pup never knew that bird was there until it was dead on the ground. The dog in the background is the one that found it, but I couldn't get her to pose with it. On the way in we saw this 11 point buck that some lucky hunter had arrowed.

Not to be a butthead because 11 points is impressive, but that buck looks kind of small.  Thin neck, the antlers don't seem to have much girth, etc.  Did you get a weight?

Not bad so far. My 8 year old shot his first deer on opening day of rifle season and I've taken a decent 8pt and 5 does so far. I need one more for sausage and I'll call it quits for the season.
