When did they change the Mustangs from SOHC? They needed to do it a long time ago.

1965 Ford had an A/FX Mustang with a 427 sohc, less than a dozen were built I believe. they eventually were banned from competition.

That would be a cool car to own. I was thinking that thing would burn out with out even trying. The stock car has problems hooking up. Ford needs to dump the live axle next.

As for the shoc they still have them. Don't quote me on this but I think was the late 90's or early 2000's. It was when ford came out with the Modular engine. Its only the 4 valve engines that have the Dohc.

I know that Ford makes a DOHC V6. I drove one in a Taurus and it ran impressive. I am sure there must be a DOHC on the V8 models. The 5.4 Triton is 3 valves per cylinder. I am not sure if it is DOHC.

I had a chance to ride in a 427 Galaxie. The driver just drove slowly and idled around the block. Just an amazing car and engine. I can understand why it was outlawed.

Outlawed because of the limited numbers. Common in that era, Chevy probably did it more than anyone else. No offence to the bowtie crowd  ;)
