lynyrdsky1 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 My mom wants to sell her 2001 Izuzu Trooper and my sister's 2002 Ford Escape so she can get a new car. I said just sell my 2002 Avalanche, which would help on the money issue, and just get me a used car. So she actually told me that she wouldn't mind letting me get like an 07 or an 08 F150 or Silverado since i have been doin good so far in school which is a big improvement from the past. The question is out of those 2 which one is better on gas, road ability, off road ability(maybe), and towing capability. If you guys have any other ideas on other cars that would be great I'm just hoping I can figure out something that is cheap on my parents and that can last me until after college. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 6, 2010 Super User Posted November 6, 2010 Google "Tip over Trooper" lol There was a major report on them and flipping over a long time ago. Quote

lynyrdsky1 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 Thanks for calling me out on the many spelling errors I have. It will be fixed. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 6, 2010 Super User Posted November 6, 2010 Happy now haha "Thanks for calling me out on the many spelling errors i have. It will be fixed." NO! Now go back and change the "i" between errors and have to an upper case "I". Then we'll all be happy. :D Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 6, 2010 Super User Posted November 6, 2010 Now, seriously, there are Ford men, GM men, and Dodge men, on here. If you pay attention, some of them will think and proclaim that the other brands are PsOS, while they swear by theirs. Any of them will serve you well if it has been maintained and not beat up. Mileage will likely be comparable for similar trucks. Look around. Find out what appeals to you and test drive all the brands. Then make up your own mind. They all run good, ride good, and are solidly built. Heck, check out Toyotas and Nissans while you are at it. Quote
bwell Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 I would go with a Dodge, they sit higher than any ford or chevy and have plenty of power with the 5.7l Quote

It is not as smooth as my Avalanche is and it burns gas like crazy. Not sure about a Nissan Titan. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted November 7, 2010 Super User Posted November 7, 2010 I've towed my bass boat and lawn equipment with the Silverado and 150. Both trucks have more than enough power. Imo, Chevy trucks ride a little more smooth than Ford trucks. Either truck would be nice but I'd go with the 08, unless it had considerable more mileage. Quote

My problem is i only have about 10 to 15 grand saved up to spend for somthing like this. Quote
J. M. Richardson Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Personally, I think the transmissions on the F-150s are better and they look better than the 07 silverados. I tend to be a Ford guy, but any american made vehicle before GM and others took billions in the bailouts is alright in my book. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted November 7, 2010 Super User Posted November 7, 2010 Im a ford guy, so i say ford, but you can find plenty of late 00's trucks for about 10-15. Don't get caught up in features, all you need in your truck is AC, a seat for your girl(s) and your Dog(s). Quote
