Looks like we're moving to Kansas

What's up dudes? Long time, no posting. Long story short, my wife nailed her interview in Wichita and was pretty much told by the staff to expect her formal offer on Monday or Tuesday. That means we'd be leaving Florida for Kansas no later than the end of the year.

I'm enrolled here at FSU and hate to leave the school (I'd have to transfer to Wichita State), but the increase in pay would mean I could go to school full time.

Unfortunately Kansas doesn't have the fishing diversity of Florida, but I'm sure it'll be fine. Besides, the deer there are bigger.

Fingers crossed, guys. We're hoping this goes through.

What in the WORRRRRLD!.. I read your pm and thought you were coming back to Palm Beach.  Wow, Kansas?  I knew it wasn't in you to be a whining Seminole ;D.  I hope Monday or Tuesday brings you and the family whatever is going to be the best for ya. I wish the wife the best of luck at her new job.  As far as you go though, I think you should quit school so you and Jack can chase storms.

Hope everything works out for the best.  Definately no Florida toads up here, but like you said, the deer are huge and plentiful.  To be honest, I wish they'd just put a two deer a week limit per hunter.  There is some good fishing though.  Just hope you can handle the winters if you relocate.  Good luck!

I understand the pheasant hunting is pretty good in Kansas as well.

The fellow that fished with me, and a couple of buddies used to make an annual trek from Mass to Kansas to pheasant hunt.

Thanks guys. I'm from Kentucky originally, and aside from having a superior basketball history (I had to get that in there), it's similar to Kansas except Kansas has less hills and is windier. Hope to find out this week.

I've never been to Kentucky but you're right about it being flat and windy here. Unfortunately that's a bad combination for being on the water! There is some pretty good hunting up here but the pheasent and quail have gone downhill the last few years it seems like. You don't have the exotic or saltwater fish here but there is still pretty good variety. Unfortunately there aren't any of the monster bass here that Florida grows!  :'( There are several guys on the board from Kansas and I'm sure several of us would be willing to show you around some of the area lakes!

Well.....you moving to Kansas means we'll visit less often.  Oh we may head over often but after we stop in Springfield at BPS it'll be time to head back home

I think there's about 6 trees in the entire state of Kansas.

Don't forget to wave at the storm chaser guys from the Discovery Channel when they pass your new house.  No rush, they usually camp out where there's a good chance to see a twister and Wichita is one darn good camping spot for that.

I'm in Cali and after the recent general election, I'm thinking about moving out of state too.
