gobig Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 For being a site that does not allow political opinion there are sure a lot of one sided political banner adds. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 2, 2010 Super User Posted November 2, 2010 Don't blame the site, the ads come from Google. Political ads should be filtered but apparently Google is having issues with that. I am sure Glenn would love to remove them. Fortunately it will be over after today. Quote
gobig Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 If that's the case one side needs get there IT and bribery skills tuned up. That makes a little more sense that the adds may be slipping through. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 2, 2010 Super User Posted November 2, 2010 They're regional ads, and what makes it difficult is we're getting different ads displayed, based on location. Quote
NateFollmer Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Advertisers and spammer (not putting them in the same category!) are getting very crafty at getting around ways that once blocked their efforts. As J stated, these are regional and I'm willing to bet that Google doesn't even know they are getting through. There's just too many locations for them to be able to nail them all. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 2, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 2, 2010 Nate and J are correct. ALL the political ads are coming via Google, and there's no way to filter them out. They're all localized, which makes it impossible to find and eliminate them all. It's like whack-a-mole! Last day of this, thankfully! Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 2, 2010 Super User Posted November 2, 2010 I'm going to say something political. I hope every member who is registered to vote did. It should be an interesting evening, and I'll leave it at that. Quote
gobig Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 It's like whack-a-mole! I used to love that game as a kid. Just think how fun it would be today if we could play it with politicians. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 2, 2010 Super User Posted November 2, 2010 If it gets people to get out and vote, then I can live with it....certainly less annoying, and easier to ignore than the fifteen pounds or so of full page, heavy stock campaign ads that have been overflowing my mailbox. Even my three year old gets a copy! Quote
gobig Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 easier to ignore than the fifteen pounds or so of full page, heavy stock campaign ads that have been overflowing my mailbox. All in the name of environmental preservation. Quote

Just think how fun it would be today if we could play it with politicians. Why limit the game to piliticians? I'm all in for a game using jet-skiers! ;D Quote
