brushhoggin Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 i agree with the environmental cues being suspect. when i'm coming off plane, pulling up to my first spot of the day to throw a lure, its not complete without some timberwolf. or sittin down to make bears sparks an urge every time. chillin out on the couch after a big meal certainly encourages a dip. if we could just train ourselves to notice the urge right when we have it and ask ourselves what did i do or think of that sparked that urge, we may could retrain our brain to think in a different direction the next time that urge comes along. easier said than done huh :-X Quote
NY_ANGLERS Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I smoked for years and wanted to quit. My problem was the only time I smoked was when I was driving. I drive a total of four to five hours a day for work. Chantex worked for me your doctor can give you a prescription. No smoking for 8 months. Good luck Quote
Nine Miler Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I quit smoking December 21, 2009. I smoked a pack a day. Haven't had one since. Cold turkey is the only way. Once you have a dip after quitting for a while, then you figure, hell I just had a dip, what is one more? Make it a contest with yourself and reward yourself for milestones. Take the money you would spend on dip every day and set it aside. In a month take your wife or significant other for a nice dinner and get a big 'ol steak. Oh yea, then there's this... EDIT- Susky, just saw your post. Good idea about the steak. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 30, 2010 Super User Posted October 30, 2010 Don't know if this applies to snuff as it does to cigarettes. The use of tobacco negatively impacts blood circulation. If you fish in cold or cool weather, your hands will get uncomfortably cold much quicker if you smoke. Same goes for your feet. The ability to fish more comfortably in cooler weather is another plus to think about when you're tempted to light up, or perhaps take a chaw. Quote
