Ever been to Vegas?

My friend and I are planning a trip to Las Vegas in May. I think we're staying or planning to stay at the Luxor. Any shows, nightclubs, etc we should check out on our visit? I don't really want to gamble a lot just maybe one or two games of poker/blackjack, but I like see rest of Vegas outside of the Casino. Maybe if I got the time a short drive to Lake Mead might be fun.

Shows and clubs. I probably just walk in acting like a high roller and see if I can get a suite comp or something.  ;D This trip is going to destroy my bank account....

Anyone that been to a nightclub in Vegas, would you say it cheaper buy a bottle than keep buying drinks? I mean some of them lets you buy the whole bottle, right?

id read up on that. up until last year we went to vegas twice a year. theres not enough time to go over things to do while in vegas.

Been to Vegas more times than I can remember.  I don't gamble either.  But every major convention seems to be held there, so I go.

There's quite an amazing car museum just off the strip if you're into really old and unique cars.  Pretty cool, actually.

Blue Man Group is also a must-see if you've never seen them before.

Shows can be quite expensive, so pick one major one and get tickets ahead of your trip, then play the rest by ear once you get there. 

There's a lot of free entertainment too.  Ceasars Palace Forum (shopping) is worth a visit.  The Free Atlantis show at one end of the mall is worth the wait, trust me. Get there at least 15 mins early for a good "seat".

The streetside show at Treasure Island is worth a visit if you've never been. Theatrical entertainment with pirates, babes, and explosions.  What more could you want for free?

The Venetian is kinda cool.  Take a gondala ride or just browse the shops.  Emeril has a restaraunt in there that's fantastic (Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse).

Speaking of food, the real highlight of Vegas is the outstanding restaraunts there.  Seriously, some of the best food in the country can be had there, at reasonable prices. Make sure you bring enough budget for these dining experiences.  You won't regret it.

Above all, bring comfortable walking shoes.  You will walk more than you ever expect!

I've decided that if I ever get married again, I'm doing it in Vegas. My first wedding was in a church ( she wasn't bad for a first wife). My second was in a courtroom (close call on that one). My next will be done in one of those Elvis Presley chapels. I don't have a plan for the rest of my future weddings, but I think I have two or three more in me.

x2 on emeril's restaurant in the venetian.  The buffet at the Paris is awesome, but both are expensive.  The breakfast buffet at the belagio is great.  The rio used to have a great seafood buffet that was good and not bad priced.

Do all the rides, the roller coaster at New York New York.  The rides on the Stratosphere.

Just walking around all the different hotels/casinos and seeing them is pretty fun the first time.  I like going downtown, some of those older casinos still have $1 and $2 blackjack, with one deck.  You can sit there for a long time on $20 and have a good time.  Just don't entertain the idea of winning money, consider it entertainment.

Hoover Dam is amazing to see the first time, too.  If you like to golf there are no shortage of great courses.  There is supposed to be some amazing striper fishing on Lake Mead.

I've never been to Vegas.  My older sister has went a few times...had a blast.  I'll have to ask her what all she did.  I don't think she spent too much.  Got a few good deals if I recall correctly.

Unless you're with a large group, no.  Buy the drinks individually.  I don't think I've ever been in a club that doesn't let you buy a bottle.  It's just good business.  They sell you a 35 dollar bottle of Grey Goose for a couple hundred bucks.  It's almost free money for them.  If you plan on buying a bottle, you're looking at upwards of 300 bucks per in some places.  The clubs in Vegas aren't all that great anyway.

Vegas can be a lot of fun.  If you want to gamble, go at it.  For the love of all things holy, be smart though.  Limit yourself to X amount of dollars for the trip.  No matter how hard you try, the odds of you winning whatever you lost back are slim.  Like Glenn mentioned, theres tons of entertainment options.  Some free, some....pricey.  Just pick what you want to do and can afford to do and go for it.  Last time I was there I did a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon that was pretty sweet.  Ended up having a picnic lunch down on the bottom of the Canyon where the chopper landed.

Las Vegas can be lots of fun.  All depends on your budget.

I've been to Las Vegas a time or two, lots of fun but boy oh boy....can it be expensive.

Luxor is a good hotel.  Its central to everything, and considering you probably wont spend lots of time in your room, a good start.

Clubs, theres so many choices.  If you're looking for bottle service, you will not have to wait in line.  Problem is that you will usually have to buy more than one bottle.  If theres a few of you, you're better off going to the front of the line, slipping the guy a $50 and he should/could let you in.  I personally like Moon and Sky Bar.

For dinner, there are literally thousands of choices.  The best steak in Las Vegas in my opinion is at Ceasars Shops.  Joe's Prime Steak and Seafood.  Place is amazing.   

For shows, Check out any of the Cirque De Soleil shows.  My personal favorites are KA or Mystere.

I sent my dad on that trip for a Christmas gift.  He LOVED it.

I really like the VooDoo Lounge at the top of Rio.  Really good food, nice club, and Great View.  Food is a little pricey, but again, it is good.
