NewAngler Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I sure as hell won't do this everyday, but I will today, and maybe someone else will tomorrow. I challenge all of you to go out of your way to make an impresion on someones life. You don't need to buy a car for someone or empty your account and fill someone else's. Leave a note of appriciation to someone who has a tougher job than you. Go out of your way to compliment someone beyond the, "you look nice today." Be the first to report here and I will send you a crank bait. Quote
brushhoggin Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 interesting. we always have bums asking for money at the exit where i get off to go to work. i took him an umbrella and some advertisement signs for the music store i work for and told him he could earn some cash holding the signs for us till 3 or 4 oclock. havent seen someone that grateful in a while. helms83 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I don't want the crankbait, but today I noticed a guy at work was being a little harrassed (not unusual in my line of work). But I stopped the harrassing, I chewed the harrassers' out, pulled the guy aside to talk to him one-on-one, letting him know that if it continues to come and get me. Definently the type of guy who gets more than his fair share of rubbings and needs someone to help him out. Quote
NewAngler Posted October 7, 2010 Author Posted October 7, 2010 perfect. pm your addresses if you'd like. This morning on the metro I gave an older woman my seat. In two stops after that 3 other guys offered their seats to women or and older man. Certainly not life changing in any means, but I bet at least 6 people felt better when they got off. Quote
NateFollmer Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I try and do something like this everyday. I have a rule while driving, I will let someone go before me every chance I get... I cannot stand trying to merge into traffic or make a turn! Always hold the door for people, that's just a given... I'm constantly giving older people cell phone help at work. You'd be amazed at how much people appreciate just learning simple things like adding a phone contact. Always go the extra mile! I think we should keep this thread going, no need to give us anything Quote
NewAngler Posted October 7, 2010 Author Posted October 7, 2010 Lure is gone. Still be great. Make today better than yesterday, and torrow better than today. Holler. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 7, 2010 Super User Posted October 7, 2010 You did a good thing by setting the wheels in motion !!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Red Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Well I haven't actually done it yet. I told the Cub Scout head lady that I would be more than happy to come in on the weekends and build shelves in their building and also finish the walls, fix the toilet and any other building type things that need to be done. The last group who ran the thing kinda messed up the building, so I am gonna fix it! Quote

Super User Redlinerobert Posted October 8, 2010 Super User Posted October 8, 2010 Great thread. I dont want the lure either, but suffice to say that it feels good to help someone out that doesnt expect it. Quote
endless Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I'm actually going to flip this around. Me, the wife and our 3 year old son went to Denny's today to eat and as getting ready to walk in, this older guy had to be an his upper 70's came out and was holding the door for another person and us. He heard my son say "I eat" and he was smiling and joking back with my son you going to eat. He seemed so happy. Now this made my day. It should be the other way around, us holding door for him but we didn't get the chance and I was just struck. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted October 9, 2010 Super User Posted October 9, 2010 I make everysingle one of my kids on the school bus smile each day... 165+ day in day out 5 days week .My fav thing to say to them is good mornin when its afternoon that gets um LOL Quote
Super User slonezp Posted October 9, 2010 Super User Posted October 9, 2010 I heard this from a guy I used to work with 20 years ago and it stuck. When someone says "Have a nice day...weekend...afternoon...etc" my reply is ...and you have a better one. Or...and you do the same. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 9, 2010 Super User Posted October 9, 2010 I buy my buddy's fishing license every year it seems.Ain't uncommon for me to give away baits. My biggest one was giving a kid a $200 bike because his got stolen that night. It just seemed like the right thing to do for me.I gave him a lock and chain as well so it doesn't happen again too easily.I hope he remembers that when he grows up and knows there are good people in this world too. Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 10, 2010 Super User Posted October 10, 2010 I'm lucky, I work nights at a very large Emergency Room and Level 1 Trauma Center. I know that everyone of my patients are having a bad day so I always try to brighten their day up one way or another. I seem to come up with a tasteful joke or quote for just about everything. It makes their experience a little be better and my shift go by faster. After 15 years I still love my job because of that. Quote
RAMBLER Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I learned this from a wonderful lady in Church. When you see a checkout clerk that is having a bad, bad day or is not feeling well. While in line, say a prayer for her and then let her know that things will get better, " because I just prayed for you. " Everyone of them has thanked me. Quote
