Super User 5bass Posted October 6, 2010 Super User Posted October 6, 2010 Moss will help out the old man tremendously. I guess Brady would rather throw 6 yard passes to Welker than throw down the field to Moss. Moss only had 9 catches thru the first 4 games so it looks like they were trying to squeeze him out anyway. More power to ya Moss! Straight cash homey! ;D Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted October 6, 2010 Super User Posted October 6, 2010 Sounds like Moss was rocking the boat in NE and getting into verbal conflicts with the QB coach and even Belichick. In NE the system is bigger than the individual player, so he was disposable... they're definitely going to miss him (at least the 100% effort version of him). That being said, the fooball fan in me LOVES the idea of seeing Favre throwing deep balls to Moss and opening it up for Peterson. Cool that Moss gets to finish where he started. Even better yet, their first game together is on Monday night. Quote
OHIO Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I can't wait to see what Moss can do with the Vikings and Farve. It was a good move by the Patriots to trade him IMO because he looked really sluggish on the field due to lack of motivation. Hopefully Moss can get his act together and score some touchdowns for the Vikings. A future hall of fame quarterback, receiver, and running back is the perfect recipe for victory. I might have to pull out the old Moss jersey when he was on the Vikings. Quote

He started rocking the boat right after the win against Cincy at his post game conference. He will surely be missed, no doubt about it, but the Pats won Super Bowls with a lot less. As far as Randy Moss not giving a total effort is not true. Just because he didn't rack up a lot of catches so far this season, he was in on the most offensive plays next to Brady. Just having him on the field opens a lot of other options. Now, if the Vikings give Randy another contract, Brett can come out of retirement 4 more times. ;D ;D ;D Good luck, Randy. Quote
MMan16 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I think losing moss is gonna make it alot tougher for there offense to function. Moss takes double coverage on alot of plays even when hes not in the plays he opens the field for people like Welker to run his underneath routes. I just think its a terrible move but we'll see they got the Ravens first game without Moss should be a good test. On the other hand Moss is gonna be great to watch with the "OLD MAN". BOMBS AWAY!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 6, 2010 Super User Posted October 6, 2010 The pats stopped winning super bowls shortly after Moss arrived, Brady fell in love with him and looked his way too often. Now the offense can be multidimensional and they can stop being so predictable. Now about that defense... Quote

Moss did not play to his highest potential every play. I can recall a lot of times where after he got hit by a corner he would just stop. He wasn't motivated to play with the Pats and it showed. If you get paid that much, you better try. I'm not saying that he didn't help the team, I am saying that he could have been a bigger help. Quote
Super User Tin Posted October 7, 2010 Super User Posted October 7, 2010 I'm glad. Almost all Brady's pics come from trying to air it out to Moss or trying to force it to him. Moss was great to get double coverage off Welker and free up the TE's. I think Bill has more up is sleeve, Mankins is still holding-out. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 7, 2010 Super User Posted October 7, 2010 Bill knew what he was doing !!!!!!!!!!!! Two of the biggest ego's in the league are now together. Poor Minnesota. Quote
helms83 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Moss for a 3rd round pick next year, I would have taken it! wish my Bears would have grabbed him up. Quote
GLADES Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Hopefully Moss can help knock off the Jets. Adrian Peterson should have a good day. The Vikes are due for a big win and the Jets a big loss. Quote

Moss throughout his career and including his time with the Pats was the deep threat. In that roll he is sprinting down the field for much of the game opening up much of the field for others. I would think that as the game went on he may have gotten tired and would be criticized of "taking plays off". IMHO, he did that when plays were called and designed when he wasn't an option and was able to conserve energy. I am not trying to defend Randy Moss. He had his share of bad games, but so do all athletes in sports and human beings in general. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 7, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 7, 2010 If you dont believe he took plays off, just watch some of the games when he played for the Raiders. He'll never be accused of being a good blocking WR like a Hines Ward but the dude has receiving skills that no other's possess. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 7, 2010 Super User Posted October 7, 2010 pats got him for a 4th round pick, got 3 great years from him, and then got a 3rd rounder for him. not bad. Quote

There are so many times that he just jogs off of the line if the play isn't designed to go his way. He is a deep threat and a great football player, but he sure as hell does not try as hard as others. Quote
