I was browsing through Bass Pro last week (trying to feed that sdumb monkey) and grabbed me a pack of the Rage Tail Shad, just bc I vaguely remembered someone on here recommending them. After fishing them exclusively for a week between me and 2 of my buddies, these things are hands down my new favorite lure. We've been fishing them at my friends house who lives on a golf course, with a little pond on the 3rd hole packed full of lunkers. These things are just driving them crazy, we've been pulling out ~2 lbs. bass on them just about every other cast.

Sitting on the fairway of a Jack Nicklaus golf course at sunset pulling out big top water bass left and right....doesn't get much better than that 8-)

If you've never tried them bf, I'd definitely recommend picking up a pack next time you're monkey shopping  ;).  They're also the most durable soft plastic I've ever seen.

Few pics from last night

I love the whole lineup, but the craws are my favorite.  More and more, I'm reaching for them in place of other lures that I'd use under various situations.  The shad have pretty much replaced traditional buzzbaits in my box, though I still have a love for the big, noisy things.  The Shad is definitely an awesome lure.

I have been using the rage tail shad ever since they have came out. They are with out a doubt my favorite lures as well. They do replace the buzzbait in my opinion but the greatest thing is, is that they are 100% weedless. I love this lure. I haven't caught ANY bass under 3;bs. with this lure. I love pulling them across the matted grass and watching the bass blow up on it!!! ;)

really? I may have to grab me a pack next time I'm out. Does it do well TX-rigged? If they're as productive TX rigged as the shad is top water, I could just about replace my whole tackle box with the 2 ;)

Academy has them on sale right now for 4.99 a pack. I bought 10 packs of Shads, Craws and Toads. I'm gonna throw em this sunday and see how it turns out.

Sorry, no more Rage Tail anythings for me.  Can't catch a cold with those things.  Just spent an hour throwing nothing else but a shad, to give it another chance.  Not even a strike!  If I retrieve it slow it sinks. Retrieve it fast enough to keep it on top, it rolls and twists my line horribly. I've rigged it on a 4/0, 5/0 weightless, and with a swimbait hook, Nothing makes it run right. Yes, I detached the tail, yes, I have the tail up.  I watched the video, read the instructions.  It just doesn't work more me.  Too many other things out there that work better than to waste my time with these. If they work for you guys, I'm glad.

For some reason they only had that color and the crazy looking silver glitter in shad. I got a few packs of both and a pack of the green frogs too, but that black/white has worked so well it's the only one to have even touched the water yet.

Sucks for you dude these rage tail baits are tha next best thing since slice bread. Maybe you just need to experement with ways to make them work. I've been having great sucess with the frogs, maybe you should try them.

Most of the views in the video show it from like a foot a way at water level. It looks a lot different from your perspective behind the rod. Of course sometimes they won't touch anything top water no matter what.

Or you could always just send them to me ;)

I like these baits a lot as well, but for me they aren't effective unless the fish are pretty to very active. I will say that I don't think bass hit any other lure as aggressively as they do a ragetail shad.

Isn't that the regular price?  Dicks sells them for 4.99 per pack (5 baits per pack).

I can't imagine what the non-sale price would be.  A buck a piece is already a lot!

Yea I paid $5/pack at BPS for mine and sure they're charging full retail for them there.

I recently tried the rage tail shad and I love them. I have been having a blast with them. I rigged mine up weightless and have been dragging them across the slop at some of my local honeyholes. I have been doing pretty well with them. Glad to see that you have had a great time with them too.  ;)

Hey now I remember where I first read about these. It was you, the one where you posted pics of you and your husband (I'm assuming?) fishing these. Thanks for posting that  ;). Went back out to the my pond a little while this morning with it. Not much luck in open water but found that as soon as I'd get into any kind of brush or anything it would usually get an immediate strike. Too bad there's not really much brush like that around my pond, or lilly pads, I'd love to have some of those :).

I am glad to see you tried it and did so well. My favorite place to fish those things was in all the slop too. It was amazing. It seemed to drive the fish nuts.  :) Looking forward to hearing about your next outing with the things. Congrats.
