Super User Lund Explorer Posted September 20, 2010 Super User Posted September 20, 2010 If you guys want to see a hobby run amok, you've got to get your wives interested in the craft of making candles. It's not too expensive. First you have to buy the four different kinds of wax which includes soft container style and harder pillar paraffin waxes, soy, and gel. You'll need a few different colors of dye, and who knows how many different scent oils so they smell nice. In the industry, it is called scent throw. Add to that the numerous jars/containers to hold the soft paraffin, the soy, and the gel. Don't forget a number of molds and wick pins for the pillar candles. Did I mention the wicks? Yeah, you need an assortment of those for the different waxes / sizes. Toss in a label made just for your company's candles and a few safety labels, boxes and bags for the candles you sell at craft shows or mail out. Postage and mailing labels. By now, your checkbook should only be down a few grand, or more. Oops, I almost forgot. You need something to melt the wax before you can make them, so add a cooker for each different type, they only run about $60 a pop. So why in the world would anybody want to do something this crazy? Because from September through Christmas, the little woman will be at craft shows each and every weekend. Fish anytime you want, and uninterrupted football on the weekends! My only hobby is looking for more craft shows to fill in any open dates. Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted September 20, 2010 Super User Posted September 20, 2010 Filing nuisance lawsuits Joining forums for things I know nothing about and annoying people Parking in handicap spaces and jogging into the store in plain view of everyone Going through the express lane with too many items and paying with change Doing 40 in the fast lane while talking on my cell phone I may have been behind you once on the Jersey 'pike. About three miles back in the line of cars that was following you. The date was May 2, 2003. As for hobbies, it's golf, travel, puttering around the yard, tinkering, and once in a while video games, the role playing variety. Yeah, it was probably me. I was probably destroying the stalls in the rest stops, rendering them useless for everyone else. Another hobby of mine.... Quote
