It is a great show, but doing what they are doing really isn't dangerous.  We caught two alligators last week in one of our duck hunting holes and they were 8ft a peice.  It's actually really fun.  We caught frogs with our hands, put a hook through their back leg, tied it to 65lb braid on a rod and reel and threw it in front of the gators.  They are really aggresive, so its not hard to get them to bite and we reel em in and shot em with a .22 magnum.  Got like 20 gallon freezer bags full of meat now!! :D :D

Oh yeah, just in case ya'll were wondering, yes we did have tags. ;)

Somehow my dad got us tags to kill them because we have so many and we were trying to get rid of them before hunting season.  Actually, if I remember correctly we got the tags in June to get rid of a few.

Yeah, ok. Until a couple of inexperienced yahoos who think they're gonna get rich selling gator hides get themselves ate up. Then they could hook up in the afterlife with the ghost hunter guy who got flattened by a train (see Micro's thread in this section) and discuss stupid ways to get killed.

To say it is or isn't dangerous is really based on your perspective. If thats what you've grown up doing, the danger really isn't the same as it is to you and me.  I sure as hell wouldn't go out messing around with a gator though. I see them frequently down here and I stay the heck away. Mind you, as a kid growing up I spent a lot of time in the saltwater. I've been swimming and fishing around enough sharks that they really don't concern me. Lots of people would consider that dangerous as well. As long as you've got a sense of respect for the animal and you take the proper precautions you can lessen the amount of danger quite a bit.  There is always something to be said for having years and years of experience as well.

I love this show I thought it was cool when the one guy built the boat out of aluminum stock, and you don't need a huge @$$ bullet to kill a gator cuz you shoot em in the back of the head and yea troy has a great voice. I wish I was Cajun.

Just another show to thrill people with an office job. I'm sorry but when you have to have subtitles cause you can't understand the what their saying then you might want to reconsider.

You folks who have never been to Cajun Country have to give these guys a little slack.  They grew up in a part of the USA where the predominate language is/was French.  It's a strong possibility that their grandparents spoke French only.  Because of this, and a lack of education, these folks have a very strong accent.  If you can get beyond the accent, you will find that these people aren't near as dumb as you think they are, and you will find that they are some of the most friendly people on the planet.  I know.  I grew up down there, and would proudly want to call myself a Cajun.  Alas, it's not to be.  I was an immigrant from Arkansas and have no Cajun heritage.  You are either a Cajun or you are not.

Mike I completely agree. Just regular folks from a different culture. I respect their way of life. Many watch and feel superior; most are not.
