Super User Long Mike Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 Height is a relative thing, depending upon the individual. In my younger days I had no fear of height. I learned to focus on the work that needed to be done, ignored the distance to the ground and enjoyed the view. I'm sure those guys are doing the same thing. BTW, I'm still not afraid of height, but I can no longer make the climb. Getting old really sucks. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 could you imagine if he forgot a tool he needed??? :'( ;D Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 Im not scared of heights whatsoever. I've got no issue with jumping out of a plane, hurtling to earth, then popping open a chute. I sure as hell wouldn't do that. Hope he's got a good shrink. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 Not just HELL NO but HELL ******* NO! It seems to me that it would be easier and safer to just repel out of a helicopter to fix the stupid thing. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 Climb up would be fun...the climb down...not so much.... Quote
Big Tom Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Not just HELL NO but HELL ******* NO! Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 I've never had any issue working at heights that could kill me. I have always said I'm just too dumb to worry about it, and once you get past the second floor, how high didn't matter. With that said, even in my younger crazier days I would not do that. About half way through the video I thought I was going to have to take a Dramamine for motion sickness. That is another one of those jobs that make you appreciate the one you have. Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 Grimlin I'm sure you're right that the helmet cam bouncing around distorted how it looked compared to two eyes being processed by the brain. The free climbing, and the maneuvering at the top of the tower stretch the margin a little too much for me. You're probably right though, when I was young and bullet proof I would have done it. : Quote
Super User grimlin Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 Yeah,I probably wouldn't be able to do it anymore now either....My age is up there and I'm steady gaining weight.I'm not as fit as i used to be anymore either. It's just the camera bouncing around that's making people queasy. With the tight OSHA regulations nowadays I'm surprise this is even legal. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 23, 2010 Super User Posted September 23, 2010 I hate climbing the silo's at work and they're only 70 ft! ;D No way I'd be on that tower. No way. Quote
farmpond1 Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 This literally gave me the heebejeebies! You could not pay me enough to climb up that tower. As he was pulling himself up over the "ledge" I about shatted myself. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 What ever those guys are being paid it's not nearly enough. Gonna go throw up now! X2 Quote
