Today is a time to reflect and rememberance of that horrific day.

God Bless America.

X2, if I spoke my true feelings and my thoughts about the direction some are trying to take this country I would be banned so I'll keep quite.

Dear Lord: place your arms around our shoulders and your hand over our mouth ;)

Same here. A sobering and frightening day. We saw the worst, and the best of humanity. Man's capacity for both good and evil is hard to understand.

May God bless America.

Never forget. My thoughts are still with the families who lost a love one in this tragedy.

Can you all remember the exact moment you heard the terrible news? I was in 9th grade in biology. A teacher stormed in and said "the world trade center towers are gone". I had a dentist appointment right after that class and I just remember being scared as hell the whole way there. I remember every second after that teacher told us that. I don't think I'll ever forget it.

I had just got home from morning PT when the first plane hit.  Was sitting in my house off base getting dressed to head back in for work.  The phone rang and we were told to show up with all of our gear.  We had just finished drawing weapons when the towers fell.  Fort Hood was completely locked down.  Nobody was leaving the base at all.  Not too terribly long after that, we were in the desert.

I remember I was in the first grade. My assistant teacher walked in telling my teacher, two planes have crashed into the World Trade Center. Later while watching the news in class we found out another plane hit the Pentagon. I remember my mom came from work to get me, and we went home, every channel playing the horrific ordeal.

The trucker's name is John Holmgren from  Shafer, Minn. He has been 'pulled over' numerous times just so the troopers can get their picture taken with the truck.

I didn't find out until about 3 in the afternoon. I was working on the roof of a fast food restaurant in Lake Zurich, IL since 7am. Found out on my way home.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was stationed at Ft Gordon, GA. My wife and I were expecting our first son and we had one of my good friends and his family visiting for a few days. He was on his last leg of a duty station transfer up to Ft Bragg, NC. At around 8am we hugged and said our goodbyes and they were off. Thirty minutes later our life changed forever. My friend left my house in peace and arrived at Ft. Bragg with Bradley Fighting Vehicles armed at the gates. That morning I drove through the front gates of Ft. Gordon with no idea what work would be like from then on. I was scared for me, my family, and all my brothers in arms.

Awesome memorial on the rig... too bad Wal-Mart trucks delivering to just about every city in America don't have something similar to remind us more often.

I recall hearing that a small plane hit the first tower just before I left for my long commute and then hearing it announced on the radio that a second plane had hit the other tower as I was pulling out of the driveway. Strangest commute of my life. Usually the way into the Bay Area is like playing frogger to make it in safely... people drive like idiots. On 9/11 everyone looked like a zombie and there was literally no weaving in and out of traffic the whole way in. Never seen a multilane freeway full of courteous drivers before.

Did BClary seriously say 1st grade??? Yikes, now I'm really feeling old.

I was at Ft. Hood as well when this happened.  Was pretty much the same deal.  Got to the office and everyone was huddled around the only TV in the building.  That was when I first saw any news coverage, it is also when I realized the scope of what just happened.  I knew we would be locked down.  I acxtually had to drive home andget my gear, they did not call us and tell us before hand to bring it.  I believe we stayed on post that day till after midnight.  They had to get 100% accountability for every soldier stationed at Ft. Hood.  Thats alot of soldiers.  I got out of the Army before we deployed anywhere.  A day I will never forget.
