Super User Root beer Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 Before we get to that, how about that Boise State game. ;D Florida is extremely lucky they wasn't playing Appy State or somebody with a little better offense. LSU is lucky too of course. Ole Miss. was quite the stunner. Who you guys got for week 2? I got Miss. State over Auburn. Miami over Ohio State. Alabama over Penn State. Maybe Tennessee over Oregon. Mostly because the defense coordinator is former Boise State D coordinator who knows Oregon offense and knows how to stop them. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 Miami vs. OSU! Time for a sweater vest stompin all day butt whuppin. God I hate the Buckeyes. Miami should win it. They've got more than enough talent now. The problem is that none of the guys on the team have ever gone into a big stadium like that. Home field advantage is really going to be a factor. If UM can jump out early, they'll win it. Love em, hate em, you still gotta respect the U. ------------------------- I'm not sure about the Bama v. PSU game. Bama should win, but with Ingram missing, that could be a big difference. If I was a betting man, I'd take Alabama as much as I hate Nick Satan. ------------------------- Florida struggling wasn't a big surprise to me. I've been calling it for a couple of years now. That entire team was based around Tebow. Without him, the offense looks lackluster at best. They're going to have a rough year. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose three or four games. One of those games will be to FSU who looked very good in Jimbo's first game in charge. I'd pick Bama, and LSU to beat them. South Carolina could get a W against them also. ------------------------- Quote
bmadd Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I think you're a little crazy to pick Miss St over Auburn. I don't see that happening. Alabama over Penn St. Even without Ingram, they still have a great back in Richardson. I think Miami @ Ohio St will be a great game. I'm torn. I think the Canes can win but since it's at Ohio State and at night that gives the home team a big advantage. As for Florida, I wouldn't count them out yet. They still are a top recruiting school with lots of talent. Any time you have trouble getting the ball from center to the QB 10+ times you're going to have a bad game. If they can't get that fixed then they won't survive the SEC schedule. Tennessee. While I'm a huge UT fan, the 50-0 win over my school UTM didn't really impress me. The first quarter of that game wasn't very comforting. Oregon's offense looks very explosive and I'm not sure the fairly young UT defense will have enough. I have hope though! Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 The Miami v. Ohio state game actually is a day game. Kickoff at 3:40. I'm kind of surprised, that would be a fairly good TV draw. Big Miami games have always had record television numbers. Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 Auburn is not going to go down but Ohio State and Florida might... Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 I can't bet against PSU. I was more encouraged this morning when I learned Alabama was not expecting Ingram to play at all and they were also not appealing the suspension of their top D-lineman. It will be a good game. Quote

Agreed. It's a hard one to pick. It's a 50/50 shot either way. Bama has lots of depth. PSU is coming in looking for a signature win that they really haven't had for a while. My only concern would be PSU's history of having spotty play. Some games they show up big time, others they look like a high school team. Miami-OSU, Bama-PSU. Hard to ask for a better set of games in week 2. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 7, 2010 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2010 It doesn't matter with Ingram being out. Richardson is just as good. Watch his highlights. Not to mention it appears McElroy is comfortable passing the ball. It just matter whether the young defense can mature really quick. I'm not worried with Ingram being out, because I have high confident in Richardson and McElroy to keep the offense clicking. Quote

Really??? how can you not be worried about not having your heisman winning running back who pretty much carried your national championship on his back when McElroy was playing like crap. Richardson was good against SJSU. Richardson and Ingram need each other. Quote
bmadd Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Well Richardson had 751 yards and 8 tds last year as the Heisman's backup. He also rushed for 109 yards and two tds in the National Championship game. Pretty good stats for a second string running back in his freshman season playing behind the Heisman winner. I wouldn't worry a whole lot if he was starting for me now. Just saying. Quote
lsufan334 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 You dont think its fresh legs??? How well do you think he will play after a whole 3 qtrs. without many substitutions? Quote
bmadd Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 No. Alabama is a pretty balanced offense. Julio Jones is a freak of nature. McElroy isn't a terrible quarterback. I agree with whoever said their young defense will be their downfall before I would believe the offense. Quote

Super User Sam Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 LSU Fighting Tigers over the Commodes. War Eagles/Plainsmen/Tigers/Whatevers over the Ringing Cowbells. Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted September 7, 2010 Super User Posted September 7, 2010 Buckeye Nuts over the Thugs. Ahem. Miami hasn't had an issue with the cops or local people in a long time. There are several other schools that have had many more issues recently. Just sayin.... Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 7, 2010 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2010 You dont think its fresh legs??? How well do you think he will play after a whole 3 qtrs. without many substitutions? Alabama has best stable of running backs in the country. Eddie Lacy looked real good last week. 13 rushes for over 100 yards and TD. These guys will pick up the slack. Richardson rushed for 100 yards in N.C. game against a Texas defense, pretty good, huh? Super User South FLA Posted September 8, 2010 Super User Posted September 8, 2010 Florida is floundering, but should get it together. UM, they don't even have the BEST QB in the ACC , good luck Canes the Buckeyes look nasty, a win there would make the U the U again My beloved Noles just need to Beat Oklahoma and the State of Florida will have 3 teams in the top 10!! Bama is going to whip up on the Lions and mark my word will lose to......THE GAMECOCKS, hate to say it but Spurrier is still the best coach with the least amount of talent out there and he will have something up his sleeve for Bama later this year. Boise State is a JOKE, they beat VA TECH a "top three ACC team? If that" and look at the rest of the schedule, if they are contenders they should play contenders at least more than once!!!! Quote
bmadd Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 An article came out in the off season about Boise St. and other top teams. They wanted to schedule tougher non-conference games but VT was the only BCS school that stepped up to play them. Quote

If they win every game the should have a chance to play a 3 to 5, but please don't let them take away a number 2 spot from a team in tough conference that has only one or even two losses in the National Championship game against, I hate to say this Bama. :-[ Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted September 8, 2010 Super User Posted September 8, 2010 Crossing my fingers for OSU and Bama to go down so Boise will be ranked #1. Be great to see if it was going to be the SEC, Big 12, or Big 10 winner to potentially get knocked out of the BCS championship down the road. It may be the start of the snowball for a playoff. Quote

Super User Sam Posted September 9, 2010 Super User Posted September 9, 2010 Norcal, as long as the NCAA is involved the chances of a college football playoff are remote at this time. If the conferences go to a 16-Team Power Conference and join to form their own alliance than we may have a playoff. The bowls have the money and the conferences want the money so nothing will be done unless the bowls are involved in a playoff system. Boise holds their fate in their hands unless one of the power teams out of a power conference really impreses the voters and has a stronger strength of schedule. Stay tuned. The season just started and the pundits are usually wrong about a number of teams so anything goes at this time. Except for Ole P#ss and Tulane. They were losers when the coin was tossed in their first games. ;D ;D ;D Quote
