Super User Sam Posted September 12, 2010 Super User Posted September 12, 2010 With the Honkies committing suicide against the Dead President Madison, Boise State's strength of schedule just went into the toilet. Unless Tech wins the ACC it looks like that ****** loss will kill Boise's hopes this season. Stranger things have happened and I will always pull for the Gobblers but last night's farce of a football game really was an embarrassment for the team from Blacksburg and the ACC. Then, with horrible quarterback play LSU managed to beat Vandy. George Jefferson played like Wheezie. And LSU has only one other quarterback on the team and he throws more interceptions than completions. The Oakies just creamed FSU along with Miami not doing as well as expected against TOSU. And UVA had a great game against the University of Super Cheaters. Had the UVA guy not hit the USC guy out of bounds right before the half we could have had a different outcome. Now to wait for next week's games which will be a lot of fun, too. ;D ;D ;D Quote
SDoolittle Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Boise's not out of it yet. Yes, it does appear that VA Tech's loss will hurt their strength of schedule, but if they stay undeafeted, they will still finish high in the BCS. I'm still hoping for an OU/BSU rematch. Quote

OHIO Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Out of it? They should have never been in it. They don't deserve to go to the most important college football game of the year. There hardest game (against VT, which they shouldn't have won), means nothing now and they don't really play anyone notable for the rest of the season. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted September 12, 2010 Super User Posted September 12, 2010 They should have no chance. They really shouldn't have to start with. I'll take a one or two loss team that has an actual schedule to play than some undefeated team from the WAC. roflmao at VaTech. Thats just fantastic. I've got a buddy who's a VT alum. He will never hear the end of it. Quote

Realistically, nearly every team in FBS football will take at least one loss at some point in the season. BSU is one of the few teams that has a very real shot at going undefeated. In the BCS world, that is more important than beating quality opponents. If they are one of only two undefeated teams at the end of the season, they will play for the National Champonship. If there are more than two undefeated teams, they will most likely end up in the Fiesta bowl again. Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted September 12, 2010 Super User Posted September 12, 2010 That's pretty crazy to say that BSU does not even deserve to be in the chase for a national title. They can't opt out of being in the WAC and just force their way into the SEC or the Big 10. They obviously have an advantage going into January since they get to play some easy games that result in less injuries or wear and tear, but to say that a team that can potentially beat any other team in the country on a given Saturday doesn't deserve a chance because of the league they play in is ridiculous. Kirk Herbstreit even says that BSU can compete with anyone, but then again he must not realize how soft their schedule is. We should remind him that they're not worthy. If there are 2 undefeated teams from the Big 10, Big 12, SEC, and Pac-10 it won't matter anyway. Quote

If UVa had scored more points than USC...then there would've been a different outcome. ;D Quote

They couldn't match up with the size and speed that the south has. They don't deserve to be in the national championship game because they aren't good enough. It's not their fault that they are in the WAC, but that's the only place they can stay undefeated. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 13, 2010 Author Super User Posted September 13, 2010 One other stat regarding Boise State. They are loaded with seniors as their recruiting classes are out of whack. If they don't make it to the BCS Championship this year then it is lights out for any hope to make it to the BCS Championship game in the future. Quote
