brushhoggin Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 fresh sashimi literally straight out of the ocean? i'm talkin reel the fish in, bleed it out and cut out a cube from the loin, chill it in a bag of ice for a few seconds, and gobble it up? if so i hate you. always wanted to do this. especially with a yellowtail tuna Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 8, 2010 Super User Posted September 8, 2010 No, but when growing up we would fish out of 16-foot skiffs in the Mississippi Sound and Biloxi Marsh and put the trout and gaftops in the livewell with the shrimp to keep them alive and then harvest them at the 36-foot yacht for dinner that evening. Fantastic! Especially the gaftops. Pure white, tender meat. Out of this world. So I can understand what you are saying about catching and eating the fish immediately. Quote
MMan16 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Nope, but I do love sushi. Me and the wife go all the time just went monday. And because of this post I may be heading back tonight. THANKS!!! Quote
SDoolittle Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I've caught and eaten a lot of fish in my life, but I've never once been hungry enough to eat the bait. Quote

Sfritr Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Out of the ocean, No. I have, however, caught a salmon straight out of the Ausable river in Mi. and cut it up on the shore and eaten it with wasabe and soy sauce. Don't forget the cold beer. It was the best I have ever eaten...... Quote
Captain Obvious Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 fresh sashimi literally straight out of the ocean? Nope but my dad has. He was fishing for marlin in hawaii and they were using tuna for bait. To make a long story short they hooked in too a 1,000lb marlin and lost it at the boat. So they ate there bait as sashimi with cold beer and drank away their pain of losing the marlin Quote
NateFollmer Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I thought about doing that with trout, but then I remembered all the freakin pollution... Quote
