Super User Micro Posted August 30, 2010 Super User Posted August 30, 2010 I watched it some time ago and just watched it again last night and again this morning on YouTube. Friggin' amazing movie. It's about the final days of Hitler and the Nazis. It's a German movie with English subtitles. The acting is superb and the filmography is as good as the best that has ever come out of Hollywood. It's a 1hr 55min movie. On YoiTube its divided up into 17 parts. But watching it is easy since as soon as one segment ends the next pops up. If you are a WWII history buff, or just like war movies, this is one of the best ever made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBhNFGLqdls Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 30, 2010 Super User Posted August 30, 2010 I heve seen it several times, good movie, the only thing I dislike is having to read subtitles, specially when, like in my case, you have subtitles in English and in Spanish on the screen at the same time. :-/ Quote
Super User Micro Posted August 30, 2010 Author Super User Posted August 30, 2010 What about when the German General was negotiating with the Russians in Russian. Then there were German subtitles, too. Must have made for a cluttered screen for you. Quote

Must have made for a cluttered screen for you. Here 's a fun fact for you to chime on, ok, I speak Spanish and English, but something happens in my mind, when I hear English being spoken ( like in a movies ) my brain switches to English ( even though for obvious reasons the picture is subtitled in Spanish ) so I don 't read the subtitles, my mind ignores them, I listen to the movies, I can 't help it, I hear English I go into English mode, this causes me a little bit of trouble with the significant other beacuse when the kids are making noise I increase the volume of the TV to listen to the movie or program I 'm watching, so the kids are loud, the TV is loud and my wife goes nutz: Hey ! can 't you lower the volume ?!?!, > it 's got subtitles you can read !!!!! WTH ? :-? Now imagine a movie spoken in German, with subtitles in English, Spanish and German Cluttered and mindblogging at the same time. Another funny fact about the Guti érrez family, my wife is American ( latino ), speaks English and Spanish, I 'm mexican/american, speak English and Spanish, wife talks to the kids in Spanish, I speak to them in English, kids watch TV some programs in English, others in Spanish. Kids speak to their mom in Spanish and to me in English. Call us crazy but that 's how we are. ;D Quote
Super User Tin Posted August 30, 2010 Super User Posted August 30, 2010 I have to check this out ASAP. Passchendaele is now on youtube and had some amazing battle scenes but the rest of the movie was awful. It was cool to see a WWI movie. I still think Christopher Waltz played the best Nazi character in Inglorious Basterds. Without him that movie would have been awful, imo. Quote

And I agree about Waltz. He's an astonishingly good actor - and that's the only movie I know him from. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 30, 2010 Super User Posted August 30, 2010 Very interesting Raul. I just read it to my wife (in English, LOL) and she was wanting to know if you and your wife actually speak to each other , and which language ya'll use. (other than the language of love ;D ) b (also, if the kids are in trouble, is that time for spanish?? I've often thought if I knew another language, I'd use it mostly for complaining, incognito..... ) We talk to each other in Spanish, curious isn 't it ? The kids ? well that depends, the best way to describe the "in trouble/whinning" language would be ........ Spanglish. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted August 30, 2010 Super User Posted August 30, 2010 I watch it about once every 2 or 3 months, my favorite war history is WWII. I've always wondered how true to fact this movie is. My only problem arises when I want to rest my eyes everything becomes Greek. 8-) Quote
