HuntFishAK Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Made the drive up the ALCAN last week for our move up here to Alaska. Saw some amazing country. We are in awe of all the scenery around Anchorage. I still can't believe we live here now. Been here less than a week and I've seen 3 bull moose and a fox. There were some moose outside my new shop this morning. Here are a few of the 500+ pics we took on the way up. MMan16 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Wow. Wish I had the time to visit there looks awesome. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 26, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 26, 2010 Ah yes, AK. Brings back memories indeed. However, you're not going to convince me that first photo is in AK. Looks more like Lake Roosevelt (Columbia River) to me. Quote
Senkoman12 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 i want to go up there someday to hunt, fish or both. btw, any bass up there Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 27, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 27, 2010 The Greyling fishing can be really fun. And of course, there's salmon and halibut. Good times! Bring Deet. Cases. Quote
frogtog Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Sure is beautiful country up there. It's going to look real good in a few weeks. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 27, 2010 Super User Posted August 27, 2010 Congrats on your move. Awesome pics. The elk around Jasper and Banff are just ridiculous. If you think the moose are abundant right now, just wait until next spring when they're all dropping calves in the valleys/cities. They'll be everywhere. You'll also probably see some grizzlies start strolling through the neighborhood the next few weeks as the days shorten and they put on all the extra lbs they can in preparation for winter. I spent a few months in Soldotna on an internship in college and absolutely loved it. No bass, but you can still find some lakes with big pike. The native rainbows in the Kenai are legendary. Quote

One of the deciding factors was the lack of bass fishing. Salmon and grayling fishing are fun, but it's just not the same. Quote
