Super User Root beer Posted August 18, 2010 Super User Posted August 18, 2010 I took this bad boy for a test ride today before the storm. It's a sweet bike, but not sure if I'm buy it yet. Got really good hydraulic disc brakes, rear derailleur made out of carbon, and is a really good quality built. I'm still tinkering with the rear shock setting to perfect it. Tough decision on whether to buy or not. :-/. Edit: If I do buy it, I will not be using platform pedals. lol. I'll add the clipless pedals to it. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted August 19, 2010 Author Super User Posted August 19, 2010 I bought the bike. I'm putting this pedal on it:http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/13251-240_CRBCC4-3-parts-65-Pedals/Mountain/Crank-Brothers-Candy-C-Pedals.htm I'm also getting new shoes with the bike as part of a package deal the owner of shop is giving me. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the pedal above, I'll be clipped into the pedal. In another word, if I turn a corner and get wash out and cannot unclip myself, I'll be in the hospital with a ankle, leg, hip, or shoulder problem. Sketchy at its finest. ;D Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 Awsome bike, will you use it to get to fishing spots? Quote
Jaheff Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 You'll learn the hard way just like everybody else did.. just remember to twist your heel out, dont try and lift your foot out.. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted August 23, 2010 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2010 Awsome bike, will you use it to get to fishing spots? All of mine rods are 1 piece..If I had a two piece I could get a rod tube and throw it on my shoulder and fish along the bank of the trails I ride. There's couple state parks in area that got bike trails along the lake. It be easier to fish that way off the bank than standing around boat ramp with bunch of other people. After I build up my cash again maybe I'll get a two piece rod and a rod tube for it. Jaheff, Yeah, it going be interesting. ;D Next thing I got to do is get renter insurance and car insurance to cover mine bike against theft. Quote
Nick94 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 if theft is an issue, then use two different kinds of locks on you bike when securing it to an immovable object. Most bike theives wont bother with such a secured bike, and wont have the tools to take off a u lock AND a wire lock Quote
SDoolittle Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 What is the benfit of those type of pedals? Quote
Stasher1 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 What is the benfit of those type of pedals? Most people pedal by pressing down on the pedal with one foot, then the other. Clip and clipless pedals (like the ones above) allow you to pull the pedal up with one foot while you're exerting downward pressure with the other. You can actually maintain constant pressure throughout the crank's revolution which is a more efficient way to pedal. Quote
wagn Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 sweet bike. I'm goint to upgrade to clipless at some point as well. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted August 24, 2010 Author Super User Posted August 24, 2010 I love mine clipless. It's a lot easier to eject than it looks. I think I finally found the perfect shock setting. It has no bob when I'm pedaling and it engage just perfect when I hit a root or billygoating over a rock. I've been fiddling with it all day. Quote
