Bobby Uhrig Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I watched a National Geographic Show last night about the Illinois River Flying carp. First show was on at 9 or so and the host of the show goes to China Town in IL to show them selling these carp. They had them in a live tank and I had to do a double take. I could have sworn I had seen a largemouth bass in the tank with the carp.It was 42 minutes into the show-Before commercial break they showed it and then again when they came back.. I actually waited up for the second run at 1am. At 1:42 that part came back on and Im telling you I wasnt drinking and could swear that was a large mouth bass in the tank. Anyone have TVO to see if I need a new pair of eyes??? Thank You. Quote

Jake. Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I saw that as well. Maybe the rule doesn't apply to the markets in China Town? Quote
Big Tom Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Looked like a bass to me. Yep. Definitely a bass. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 Nope there are State and Federal laws. Hmmm they even gave the Mans name /store and phone number outside. I was rubbing my eyes when I saw it and said "That aint no carp" Quote
Boogey Man Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Hey, Bobby, maybe you need to expand your scent line-up. I can see it now...Carp-o-strike Quote
b.Lee Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Chinese people love Black Bass. They have a dish called Black Bass with black bean sauce Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 I already thought of that commercial 6 years ago- We are fishing in a boat we open the tube and the fish start juming in the boat. I say "thats it Im taking up golf" Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 26, 2010 Super User Posted July 26, 2010 Everything goes here in Chi-town. The bass in the tank is still alive. A good thing. Trust me there are no stray dogs or cats walking down Cermak Ave, and there is 24hr target practice in the Hilliard Towers housing projects. Quote

LOL...reminds me of Clint Eastwood in the movie Gran Torino. "No, I ain't comin' to your party, and don't touch my dog!" Quote
bass or bass ? Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I frequently see live largemouth bass for sale at asian supermarkets here in Phoenix. Farm raised bass are legal to sell in stores. I also frequently see live channel catfish and sometimes live crappie! Quote
