Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 How's he a coward for wanting to win? He's taking less money. Pro athletes always get accused of always taking the biggest cash deal. There is nothing wrong with wanting to win. Otherwise, why play the game. I think the dude has huge balls for leaving Cleveland. Super User South FLA Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Its LeBron!! Guess getting seats now to the Heat games will be next to IMPOSSIBLE!! WOW, dy-NASTY! Kobe, who? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 He's smart enouth to know that he can't put a team on his back and carry them like Magic and Michael did. Cleveland is a football town and will survive without "THE KING." Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 He was in a lose-lose situation. Haters would have called him money-hungry if he stayed in Cleveland and call him a quitter for leaving for less money so he can win. Everyone in Florida except Stan Van Gundy is pretty happy tonight. Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 They still won't win a ring................ They did a couple years ago....with a lot less talent. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Bit premature to be talking dynasty, a dynasty is more than 1 ring and they have yet to hit the court. Will they play as a team or be individual stars, when injured will the Heat have a good enough bench, never saw player play thru pain like Isaiah Thomas. Jordan, Bird and Magic ( he had Kareem ) not only were fantastic but had well rounded balanced team behind them, that's what makes a dynasty. Being a Detroiter and going to many Pistons games back in the Bad Boy era, they won with balance and great 6 th man ( Vinnie Johnson ), yet with 2 back to back rings they fell well short of being a dynasty. Lebron is a wonderful player but has yet to prove he's a champion. I'll sit back and see how plays out. Quote

Wow...funny how LB went from this good guy that everybody loved to this villain simply because he was willing to take less to win a championship! Cavs owner, Dan Gilbert ought to be ashamed for his statements. It was all honky dory when the man was on his team, but the second James decision was made clear...stab the man in the back will ya. Guaranteeing the Cavs fans that they'll win a championship before LB does...are you kidding me?! They couldn't do it in the seven years he was with them...what in the world makes him think they'll do it without him?! Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 not as good of a move as people think. The Heat have like 6 people or less on their roster right now. NO bench whatsoever. those 3 guys cant play for 48 minutes without rest and be as good as they have been. And they used up all their cap space on these 3 guys. Now they'll only be able to sign minimum contract guys for awhile. It'll be 3-4 years before the Heat win a championship. If they even do then. They'll win a whole lot of regular season games but wont win championships. If Lebron wanted to win championships right now he should have went to the Bulls. They have Derrick Rose who is becoming one of the best all around point guards in the game. Joakim Noah who is a 15 pt 10 reb a game guy. Now they just signed Boozer as well who averages about 20 and 10. The Bulls were the top rebounding team last year now they just added a great player in Boozer. Luol Deng and Taj Gibson are great players. the Bulls are gonna be a force very soon. The Heat are just gonna be regular season good. Im not saying I'm 100% right about all this. Its just my opinion. Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Really, it seems like the entire city of Cleveland and every Cavaliers fan (to include the ownership group), all have no class. It's simply disgusting how quickly everybody is tossing him into the dirt. Less than 12 hours ago, everybody associated with Cleveland was swinging from his wobbly bits, now they all want to kick him there. Be happy for what the guy did for you for the time he was there. He gave a town nobody gives a crap about some hope for a little while. I'd leave Cleveland too, especially after the showing you all just gave to whatever free agents "might" have come to play there. In the words of Ron Burgundy, "You stay classy, Cleveland." Quote

Agreed. Nothing is ever written in stone, especially in sports. Fortunately, the times that the three of them have played together, they've looked amazing. Isaiah Thomas was amazing when he was wearing that Pistons shirt. I'll never forget the special Amad Rashad did on just his injuries that he suffered. Sadly for Thomas, his career took a major dump while he was in New York. I'm sure the Heat will end up with a pretty good bench. There will probably be a bunch of players willing to make minimal cash to play for them just to have a shot at a ring. Pat Riley is simply the best person you can ask for to fill out a roster. He's done it before. I'd be willing to bet he can do it again. He's got the ultimate bargaining power now. If you come to Miami, you probably will win it all within the next year or two. Who knows whats going to happen. I do know this though; it's going to be fun as hell to watch. I'm glad I got my season tickets early this year. Thank God for the renewal package. Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I dont blame them for being upset. But they're getting out of hand. I agree with what Lebron said in an interview when they showed him a video of people burning his Cavs jerseys in the street. He said "I cant worry about that, I mean, If 2 or 3 years ago Cleveland traded me or got rid of me, my family wouldnt go burn down the organization headquarters" Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Oh, you can't blame them one second for being upset. That wasn't the point of my post. Everybody is clamoring for him to set an example for the children. What the hell are they doing then. Call me crazy, but it seems to me that they're kind of setting a poor example themselves. The guy went against every evil thing that pros are accused of, and chose the opportunity to win. Didn't want the huge check, didn't pick the biggest market to increase his brand, the man just wants to win. All I hear is how hard life is going to be for some of the places outside of the Quicken Arena in Cleveland. Was it that good before LeBron showed up? Thank the guy for the seven years of record earnings you had. The whole city looks like the poor kid that broke up with his dream girl in seventh grade right now. That being said, he may well have had a better chance in Chicago, but that remains to be seen. BTW, football isn't exactly Cleveland's strong point either... Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 IMO Lebron's declaration was way over the top and I really don't blame the Cleveland fans feeling the way they do, but to the fans thinking Lebron is  losing Ohio jobs for them is lunacy, they should be blaming China instead. I don't blame him for wanting a ring. My 10 yr gr son is upset he didn't go to Chicago, he is too young to have seen the greatest. Only a few rings will put Lebron in the upper echelon of players. Kobe is the best thing to come along since Jordan. Super User South FLA Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Riley charmed him over and once Wade and Bosch committed it was clear to LeBron that he wanted to play in S. Beach and play for the Heat! Dan Gilbert needs to get a grip, we are dealing with ummm..... basketball players in the game of basketball. If he wants to get even he should call for an all out boycott of Carnival Cruise Lines and travel to Florida from all Cavs fans. Mickey Arison won fair and square and his venom should be directed at him, not the dumb basketball player in a businessman's world! In my opinion Dan Gilbert is a cry baby! Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Yes the fans are going overboard, but that is not exactly unusual for fans. I find it rather funny and odd sometimes how people think the home team in any sport actually affects there lives. I don't believe he made this choice based off of winning championships. The better choice of that would have been Chicago. With the lineup they had, and adding Boozer they would be an instant contender. In Miami they have to figure out a team to go around these 3. With the money spent on these 3 it will be difficult. It seems a little bit of a stretch but making sense now. During the Olympics Wade, Bosh, and Lebron agreed, along with Chris Paul, to play on the same team when each was a free agent. Chris Paul comes up next season. A little hard to believe it could happen but almost there. And the hiring or film crews by all 3 this year makes it seem like this was all planned ahead of time. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 Don't kid yourself. Miami will have a good team, a very good team. Mike Miller may be signing today. This is nothing that hasn't been done before, just not on this scale. They got rid of Beasley, which opened up some more cap room. Riley is probably going to work some more magic before the start of the year. The biggest fear that Wade, James, and Bosh are going to have is living up to the expectations immediately set on them now. It won't matter who makes up the rest of the roster, they need to win, quickly. Miami fans can be very fickle. With the level of talent, the average joe is expecting a title instantly. While thats a good possibility, you never know what can happen during a season. Historically, players on the Heat have been injury prone when they're needed most. If they can keep a healthy starting five, and have a mediocre bench, the sky's the limit. Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I disagree completely when people say this was a selfish decision on Lebron's part. He's taking a lot less money going to Miami than he would have gotten if he'd gone somewhere like New York. He's not even getting a max deal in Miami. He's going there to win. Not the money. Lots of athletes say winning is everything and money isn't, but very few actually put they're money where they're mouth is and take less to win. And for that I have respect for Lebron Quote
1inStripes Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 He is making the same as he would in New York. Cleveland was the only one who could pay him more the way the NBAs agreement is setup. He gave up on his hometown and the people who helped him grow and handled the situation in a terrible way is my only problems with it.
