yep. Had one come at me on Wilson Creek in NC. it waited till I had waded chest deep in water. Whipped it in the head with my pole real quick about half dozen times, it got the idea real quick and took off.

Yes, it hurts like an old lady swatting you with a broom.  Just wring his neck and move on.  Too many resident geese around anyways.

I've never been attacked. I had one do a low level, high speed fly-by, while squawking at full volume one time. When they are on a nest they are not very friendly. :-?

I've never been whacked with a broom by an old lady either...a well placed shot might not be very pleasant, but probably not going to do any real damage. Good imagery. 8-) Resident geese are a nuisance. Wringing a neck or two might send a message...

I remember years ago when the roller-coaster Apollo's Chariot opened at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, they had Fabio and a bunch of chicks dressed up like greek godesses take the first ride.  At the bottom of the first hill a goose flew right in front of the car and hit Fabio in the face.  Tee hee hee....

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!

I remember when that happened! LOL, I broke out laughing then started thinking, I must be evil for thinking that way. Be like a pianist breaking their fingers, or something like that for a model (no matter how annoying) to get a goose to the face.

There is a spot on my local lake referred to as goose s**t island because there are so many geese the hang out and nest there - but is is also a great place to fish from bank because of access to the channel, laydowns, etc.

A year or so back, I was fishing from the island and managed to upset a mama & papa goose with a whole flock of goslings - mama was leading them down into the water and as I walked down, papa flew up and slapped me in the face with his wing - knocked off my sunglasses and almost cause me to lose my balance on the rocks.

My grandmother used to throw her shoes at me. Does that count?

Actually there is a [feces] that was supposed to go between goose and island, but the censor program pulled it out - I wouldn't advise drinking anything brewed up on this spot

I know...

But Goose Island is a legit brewing company in Chicago. They make 312, which is a great wheat beer.

It probably wasn't the first time Fabio got goosed

Speaking of pelicans... those things will eat just about anything that will or even *might* fit in their beaks!

i have found that a shotgun loaded with 3" BBB will do best on eradicating geese
