soccplayer07 Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 how do you like the Sopranos? I have a few that I have not tried yet. A buddy of mind didn't care for them at all but I have read great things about them . I love the AVO you have pictured. Great smoke. I have not had one of those in a long time... Quote

That is actually the only one I have and haven't tried any yet. I have heard nothing but good stuff about it and sounds great. Haven't smoked a cigar since it was warm though since I can only smoke outside. Those AVOs are great but for that much money there are other ones I like just as much that are cheaper. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 still waiting Aaron....and I wanna see ALL your boxes, not just one. ;D nice sticks, Nick. You have a few of the Gurkhas that I have yet to try (Triple Ligero, The Beast, Warlord) Anyone tried one of the new Gurkhas? I just found two new cigars and the guy at the store said they were new. One was called the "Assassin" and the other was called "Killer." I had a "Killer" and it was pretty awesome. I think next on my list are Man O' Wars, Gurkha Microbatches, and more CI Legends Series from Graycliff. I really liked the Legends Graycliff. Nick, it seems like you might like full flavored cigars. Try 5 Vegas' "A" series. Fairly cheap and pretty good. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 I may have to try the Gurkha Cigars. The Fuente Fuente cigars for me have been pretty consistent. I'll take a picture of my humidor when I get a chance. Quote

Aaron, I've got a churchill for you to try. Quote

I actually want to try that. That and Padron. (whenever I get the money order one. ;D) I gotta tell you guys this story. When I was in Mexico, I wanted hook myself up with a Cuban cigar, and there was a street vendor selling tequila and cigars. I bargained with him for a while on the Cohiba. He was trying get me buy a whole box, and I told him "I cannot smoke all these before I get back into the United States." He replied "You can take three back into the State, if you have 4 U.S. Custom will confiscate them." The Cohiba I had, had "Cuba" written on the wrapper, the ones you can buy from Thompson Cigar company has a Dominican Republic wrapper. Which reminds me, I don't think there is a major different between cigars with Cuba written on them and Dominican Republic. Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 In the 1950s, when I was a teenager, my buddies and I used to get Pippins cigars from a vending machine for a nickel. See the nickel price to the left, and above the peach over the Pippins cigar. The date for that was 1892. Sixty some years later they were still selling for a nickel. Talk about low inflation. The only time I smoked was during that era. I guess that made them my favorite cigar. The El Productos were out of our price range. Quote

Super User Root beer Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Dan, I thought of that too, but I was 18 years old wandering the street of Mexico. I was more curious towards tequila and booze than cigars. I was at this bar in Mexico, the guy charge me a 1.00 a beer, and then he went into a room next to bar, came back with a box of cigars and said "if you buy one, we all smoke with you." My friend and I turned around look behind us and a bunch of Mexicans were sitting down at a booth starring at us. ;D ;D Good times. I bought back a Jamaican rum. Almost bought a bottle of tequila with freaking scorpion in it. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 nice Aaron! Have you smoked a Status yet? Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 How does Rockey Patel taste? Sorry, Redline, still not quite an expert on booze yet.. ;D Quote
quanjig Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Dan#, Aaron, I had no idea you were big smokers. I use to dabble about 10 years ago. Had a friend who ran a wine shop and he would turn me on to some awsome cigars!! Then I started getting into nice tequilas and bourbons. Those two things go together well, just tough to do both fiscally!!! Tell ya what, we need to get together. I'll bring some nice high end tequilla if you guys bring the sticks!! Quote
soccplayer07 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 I'm game. take your pick... Quote
soccplayer07 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 nice Aaron! Have you smoked a Status yet? YES! only on special occasions though. did you see the dual wrapper on the Sol Cubano??? The best looking cigar I have ever seen. Quote
-nick- Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 How does Rockey Patel taste? Sorry, Redline, still not quite an expert on booze yet.. ;D Most RPs are good consistant smokes. The only Rocky Patel I didn't like was the 1961. I was pretty disappointed about that one. You should try the RP Vintage 1990. I really like the 1992 but the 1990 is a great smoke as well. soccplayer07 how do you like those artisans? I've been wanting some for a while they're gorgeous cigars. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 amazing smoke! i would put it in my top 5! always turns out to be a great conversation piece as well... Quote
-nick- Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Nick, it seems like you might like full flavored cigars. Try 5 Vegas' "A" series. Fairly cheap and pretty good. When I first started smoking cigars I got a 5er of 5 Vegas Golds, and didn't care for those at all. Then after a while I got some 5 Vegas Miami's and those are a real peppery cigar. Like heavy pepper. Still have some of those sitting in the bottom. Since then I just have been wanting to try other stuff and haven't bought anymore 5 Vegas. Quote
-nick- Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 If ya'll haven't already, try an Oliva Serie G Maduro. I haven't tried the regular wrapper but this is an awesome medium smoke and fairly cheap. And ya'll should really get a couple Oliva Master Blends 3. Man this is making me want one. Today would've been perfect too, it was not too hot but not too cold out. BTW soccplayer07, nice stash! Great pictures. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 thanks man. Vegas gold is CI's number one selling cigar. IMHO probably the best (mild) every day smoke available. Maybe you got a bad batch. Quote

Well it's not that they were bad. I liked them when I smoked the first 3. Then I went out and bought a CAO Gold to try, and it was so much better it made me not like the Vegas Golds. Plus I don't care for something that mild and plain. I don't smoke often so when I do I like to have a good flavorful cigar. But when I first started smoking the CAO Golds were perfect. Quote

I'm sure some do but just not my cup of tea. haha But I'll have to try those thanks! Quote
