Super User 5bass Posted July 4, 2010 Super User Posted July 4, 2010 Anybody else see the fights? Lesnar took a beating in Round 1 then came out in the 2nd and finished Carwin with an arm triangle, 2:19 in. > Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 4, 2010 Super User Posted July 4, 2010 He keeps getting better and better. Imagine what he'll be after 10 fights. The only problem is going to be finding adequate opponents. Carwin beat the crap out of Lesnar, but he punched himself out. I got scared for a bit, but after Lesnar took about 20 punches and kept protecting, I figured he'd be able to at least get it to the second, which would definitely work to his advantage. Leban/Akiyama was the fight of the night as far as I'm concerned. I don't know how either of them even started the third round. Three great submissions tonight. I'm always worried about not getting great fights when I get a PPV, but tonight delivered. Quote
Big Tom Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Dang it!!! This is the first one I have missed in a while. I decided to go out fishing instead. It sounds like it was an awesome event. Oh well. The internet has it somewhere. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 4, 2010 Super User Posted July 4, 2010 Lesnar Hater He's the man, might as well jump on the wagon Scott. Quote

TrippyJai Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Carwin is the only man capable of possibly of beating Brock IMO. JDS and Cain are too small. Brock proved he can take a beating tonight and still be okay. He will definitely take Cain down in their fight and pound him out. I'll be very surprised if Cain wins. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted July 4, 2010 Super User Posted July 4, 2010 First UFC fight I order, because of the main event. I was rooting for Lesnar, he took one hell of a beating and pulled throuh. The other co-main event was awesome as well. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 4, 2010 Super User Posted July 4, 2010 From Carwin... He showed the heart of a Champion last night. Most men would fold under that kind of pressure.I really appreciate all the support and messages. I am honored to have had the chance to fight for the belt and will be working I disagree off to get another shot. There are a lot of deserving fighters out there and now it is Cain's turn to see what he can do. I will be back in the mix soon enough. As for my health, I am good. My body began to seize up towards the end of the 1st and it was totally locked up in between rounds. I told my Coaches I could not move my legs. I have never felt like that before in my life. I had to answer the bell so I did what I could do and went out like any warrior would do and tried to fight through it. Being a Champion is about living and fighting through adversity. Brock Lesnar has done jsut that, not only in coming back to submit me but throughout his medical struggles too. I hope I can earn another shot someday. For me I am going to do a signing today and then head home to be with my family and spend a little quality time on the lakes in my Malibu Boat. It has been a long camp and a even longer set of camps waiting for this fight. I need a rest. Thank you to my coaches, sponsors and manager for everything you have done and continue to do for me. You guys have made this a fun journey and one I would travel anytime. My goal is to win the UFC Heavyweight Title, I want to be the best fighter on the planet. I will be working hard and doing everything I need to do to earn that title. For now I will settle for loving father, husband and loyal friend... Quote

Super User burleytog Posted July 6, 2010 Super User Posted July 6, 2010 I've watched the fight about 10 times now and noticed one glaring thing. Carwin was gassed three minutes into the first round. He didn't even try to get in any offense in the second. Then again, referencing the statement I quoted above, little wonder. Quote
Big Tom Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Finally watched the fights. Carwin did gas himself out pretty bad. The dude really should have calmed down and picked his shots better. He had Brock in trouble but couldn't land the shot he needed to seal the deal. With that said, Lesnar took a legit beating and hung in there. He surprised me with that. I cannot believe Carwin let him get that arm triangle. I guess he was just too gassed to really do much about it. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted July 6, 2010 Author Super User Posted July 6, 2010 but as far as EVER being a lesnar fan.....i equate him with feminine cleansing products........ ;D LOL Agreed!! Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 with Fedor losing a few weeks back we can legitimately say Lesnar is the best heavyweight on the planet right now. He showed a lot of heart in that 1st round, which I think a lot of people questioned. Now I just hope Frank Mir somehow gets back into title contention so we can see Lesnar deform Mir's face again Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Franks a good fighter but a lot of people dont make light of the fact that he beat Brock in only Brock's 2nd pro MMA fight. A fight in which Brock straight up beat the crap out of Mir and his inexperince cost him when he ended up in the kneebar. I'm not taking anything away from Mir in that fight, he won fair and square. But I think it was just due to Brock's inexperience at that time. Quote

(so i'll still watch, lol) b I agree. Thats the great thing about MMA, never know whats gonna happen. Look at the 1st GSP Matt Serra fight. lol Quote
etommy28 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I will say this, it was a good fight but not the best, maybe not 2nd best. the 2 fights leading up to it we completely even brawls. I know to me the leban fight was better and the George Sotiropoulos vs Kurt Pellegrino was also great. infact, there were no bad fights i saw. Quote

They slugged it out and were happy about it. Quote
Fish Chris Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 You know, I think I like / respect every fighter that fought in 116, including Brock. He's a physical freak, and he's obviously training hard, to be a greatm well rounded MMA fighter. Carwin is cool too. But hey now, I don't think anybody has mentioned Kristoph "The Polish Experiment" Xxxxxxski ! I've only seen this guy fight twice, and he lost both times.... But it's only because he goes at 110 % with "No fear" ! The guy holds nothing back ! Really exciting to watch ! Granted, Stephan Bonner, is sure not afraid to get hit either.... Which is why that was such a good fight. Anyway, all in all, one of the best PPV UFC events I've seen in a while ! Fish Quote
