Super User Wayne P. Posted June 28, 2010 Super User Posted June 28, 2010 Burley, I have two of the Rugers like in the squirrel picture. One of them is wearing a 6X 30mm scope. I can look them in the eye when pulling the trigger. A long gun is too easy. Quote

Wish I could shoot it more often, but 22LR is hard to find around here. Quote

Plan it around a WV ball and either you or Tommy can pick it up. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 28, 2010 Super User Posted June 28, 2010 I can get it, just not what I want. I bought around 2000 rounds of CCI last year just to have it on hand. Wish I could find the Federal 550 rd. boxes again. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 28, 2010 Super User Posted June 28, 2010 Pretty sure we have them, believe it or not. Blue box? What is the FPS? I will write it on my hand and check the store. I'll give you a call or shoot you a message. Quote

I really miss hunting quail though. thats a beautiful drake pintail I appreciate it, too bad I didn't get him. The guy we hunted with smacked him with a hail mary after I dusted the hen at 15 yards. It was foggy couldn't make it out that it was a hen until it was too late. : Burley, are you talking about the boxes that walmart sells at 500 rds. a box? Is it a certain color box? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 29, 2010 Super User Posted June 29, 2010 Burley, both of mine shoot the best groups with the Federal hollow points. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 29, 2010 Super User Posted June 29, 2010 Burley, both of mine shoot the best groups with the Federal hollow points. Mine is deadly with the Federal bulk pack loads (can't recall bullet weight). Haven't seen any on a shelf in over two years. The CCI's I bought last year aren't bad, but nothing like the Federal I used to shoot. I miss being able to buy 550 rounds for $10. > Quote

Used to be able to get em for 9 bucks a box at wally world. Haven't been able to get any for years. All my 22's liked em too. I think the value paks Federal offers now are 500 round soft-point. Don't shoot near as well for me. Oh and HE!! yes I hunt! Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I hunt ducks and deer. We normally kill 500+ ducks a year, but this past year was WAY down with only 206. And no deer this past year!! I guess i used up all my luck two years ago when I killed a 10 point with a 20" spread that scored 165!! Quote

The only thing I can usually find on shelves is cheap Remington or high $$ match. If given a choice, I prefer Federal with Winchester a close second. Only reason I bought the CCI last year was because the price was good and I was down to less than 500 rounds. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 30, 2010 Super User Posted June 30, 2010 The bullets I have are in a red box stating Federal "High Power" and no 712. I bought two bricks of them many yeara ago and still have just over 1 brick left. I'm not a paper puncher, I prefer my targets to bleed. I may shoot a clip full occasionally at a target to verify zero. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted June 30, 2010 Super User Posted June 30, 2010 I shot my first five deer with a bow back when I was 12 and 13 years old. I've been a bow hunter ever since, with a little rifle mixed in. I also hunt turkey but that's about it. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted June 30, 2010 Super User Posted June 30, 2010 I hunted more than I fished when I lived in Colorado. Elk, Deer, Ducks, Geese, Doves, Grouse, Coyotes, and lots and lots of Jacks and Cottontails . I estimate that one of my 10/22's has put down over 4,000 prairie dogs. That is the funnest critter to shoot. I liked the old red box Federals too. Since I moved out here though, all I have done is chase Turkeys. Got one with a gun when I first moved, and have spent a fall and spring season unsuccessfully trying with a bow. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted June 30, 2010 Super User Posted June 30, 2010 Recently took up bowhuntng. Killed my first boar a couple weeks back, had an unsuccessful turkey hunt also this last season. Looking forward to deer, bear, bobcats and elk with a bow as well. Quote
VABassin'14 Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 My three favorite things in life are baseball, fishing, and hunting. I have bow hunted for deer for five years now, and is my favorite way to hunt. I also have fallen in love with bird hunting with our Brittney Spaniel. She is an amazing dog, and I have never had a bad day when bird hunting. Quote
SGT Rico Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Heck yeah!!!! 100% Bowhunter, love it. There is no feeling in the world that can compare to being at full draw at a deer 20 yards out. Here's a pic of my baby---- Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted July 1, 2010 Super User Posted July 1, 2010 No hunting for me, though most of my buddies do. Quote
TerryR Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Hunt deer with a centerfire rifle and flintlock. I also hunt a variety of small game(squirrel, pheasant, grouse, rabbit and occasionally dove). Quote
krisjack69 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I have never been hunting before. When I was a kid I used to shoot birds with my pellet gun but thats it. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 8, 2011 Super User Posted July 8, 2011 I mainly fish, but I also shoot sporting clays! In turn, my shooting instructor took me on my first 2 hunts this past year, one dove and one duck! So I think I will be shooting more birds this year and from now on! Quote
