whittler Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 British Prime Minister Chamberlin had the same idea with Hitler, just give in a little bit and he will be satisfied. You all know how that turned out. Thank God the men at the Alamo did not share that idea. Quote
Osprey39 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Ok, everyone take a deep breath. It's not the old west down there. Granted it can be dangerous; however, if you just stay over on the Texas side and stay aware of your surroundings you will be fine. They are increasing the number of officers. Had several friends that just returned from a four day trip. They caught a ton of fish, stayed on the Texas side, and had absolutely no problem. I'm going back down for the state tournament in September and unless i am told otherwise I have no issues with going back down there. Will I be packing when I hit the water? No, if I'm stupid enough to get ambushed, they can have what they want, I'll live to replace it and fish another day. I dunno, there's a whole lot of places to fish in this country. I think I can live without the hassle of inland piracy, lol. I know they have some big fish in Falcon but they have big fish in other Texas lakes too. Quote
Bigs Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Im curious how anyone gets ambushed on a lake ? Arent these pirates on boats ? I can see a boat from a mile away on the water. Its not like they are popping out of the water like Rambo. Common sense would tell me to stay away from any boats that looked suspect. One cool thing bout the guy in his Ranger boat, those things are near impossible to sink so if I was gonna be shot at then that would be the best boat to be in ;D Quote
BassThumb Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 You lose your boat over the border, your insurance isn't going to cover it. Keep that in mind. Not always. I can go to Canada and still be covered. What will happen when pirates get faster boats? Quote
scrutch Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Very smart to try to shoot it out with them. If you do happen to get one, guess what, they have your boat number. Easy to track down your family. If you are silly enough to believe that they are not in your town, well guess again. Best to stay away instead of opening a can of worms you are not qualified to handle. just get them all...problem solved. Quote

They can be on you before you see them coming. Thick and narrow. Quote
NHfroggin Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 You shoot to stop a threat not to kill, very big difference. Now you in no way should shoot to "wing". Your shots should be center mass always. No head shots unless they are believed to be wearing a vest and then it would be double tap to the chest one to the head. I know that if i was fishing that body of water or any other i would be carrying my firearm as a option and to be prepared for what might happen. If you happen to be confronted by these people and a co angler can return fire as you are trying to outrun them i think it may help your chances. Use common sense and you will be fine. -matt- Quote
scrutch Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Is Falcon REALLY that good to where it'd be worth it to risk your life to fish it? Save yourself the potential tragedy and skip it. Fish elsewhere for now. Quote
Koop Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I find it comical having done 3 tours in the USMC in Iraq and seeing comments like "well I'd just shoot them and kill them dead" Taken so lightly... if you do so enjoy the lifetime of guilt and other issues. I absolutely hate how some people view shooting and/or killing someone with a firearm glamorous. I myself never wish to hold a firearm again, that is just my personal choice. I do however value the rights and amendments bestowed on us in the constitution over my own personal beliefs, but please know that if you are ever in the situation where it may come down to shooting or killing someone, know that its not over when the person passes. (No matter how bad they may be, I still feel bad about killing people who were firing at me before I fired a single round) Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 What I find missing, is the mexican government's LACK of keeping those fools out of there. Yes I know, corruption ect..Why doesn't the US put some pressure on mexico to do something..? Could you imagine if the tables were turned..? mexico would be Screaming bloody murder for us to do something... : Quote
