Watch it here: www.kens5.com

It was during a bass tournament last weekend and he was within 15 yards of the pirates. Thankfully he had a 250 on his ranger and got away.

There are several news shots that are aired concerning the outlaws on the mexican side.

This is valid reason to make sure you invite Smith & Wesson fishing with you.

I think I will mount a M-60 next to the trolling motor and learn to say "say hello to my little friends" in Spanish.

I always have at least 3 guns on board. In my tacklebox I keep a .22 revolver loaded with snakeshot. In my boat bag is my designated boat gun, M1911 .45. Then I have whatever concealed weapon I happen to be carrying that day, usually S&M 9mm or S&M .44 mag.

So you think its a clever way to get people to purchase Yamaha 250 motors  ;D  ;D

seriously. something bad will have to happen before anyone considers taking out the pirates permanently

Unfortunately, I think that's what's going to happen.  These bandits aren't too bright.  They're dealing with Texans.  Armed Texans.  In fast boats.

You get about 5 armed bass anglers within earshot (and sight) of each other, and then one slow boat full of thugs tries to mug one of them.  The outcome is self-evident.  Something bad is going to happen.

even if you do have a gun with you, what good is it if they have theirs drawn on you first? you go to pull it out and end up looking like swiss cheese before you can even do anything.

I HOPE NO ONE TRIES TO GO UP AGAINST AK47's. BEST THING TO DO IN A BAD SITUATION IS GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT AND HOPE NO ONE GETS HURT. SOMEONE NEEDS TO PUT SOME PRESSURE ON THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES CAN DO A THING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THESE IDIOTS ARE SMART ENOUGH TO STAY ON THEIR OWN SIDE. MAYBE THE DRUG CARTELS WILL STOP IT BECAUSE OF BAD PUBLICITY FOR THEM. SEEMS AS IF THEY WOULD WANT TO STAY OUT OF THE LIMELIGHT, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

Safest place to be with an AK-47 drawn on you is right in front of the sights.   :)

All joking aside, thats some crazy stuff.  Now you need a high powered boat to get to fish quickly...and run from pirates.  Stories like this are the primary reason why I invested in a good quality marine grade shotgun a few years ago.

Just curious, what is good publicity for a drug cartel? ;D

I'm not sure that the cartels will adhere to an underwater border so the warnings to stay on the US side might should be changed to stay a good ways from the border on the US side.

Very smart to try to shoot it out with them. If you do happen to get one, guess what, they have your boat number. Easy to track down your family. If you are silly enough to believe that they are not in your town, well guess again.

Best to stay away instead of opening a can of worms you are not qualified to handle.

This is the best reply to this thread.

That might be right but I can tell you that if I couldn't out run them and it came down to use of guns, I'm shooting to kill. I not taking the chance of them getting away and coming back later for my family

I'm shooting to kill.

This line always cracks me up.  Why ELSE would you shoot?  I mean, that is the point of a gun.   ::)

Why ELSE would you shoot?

J you can also just shoot to wing someone. You can also shoot to just to scare people.

Before you consider carrying a gun, I STRONGLY

suggest attending a class for handling weapons

and self defense. Shooting to wing someone is

just for dramatic effect in the movies, not real

life.

Both stupid.  Seriously dude, you need education.  If you draw, then your intent is to kill.  That's what guns do.

I strongly agree with J Francho on this one.  Once you've drawn a weapon, you're in a kill or be killed situation.  Period.

There's no "winging" somebody, or "scaring them off" with a "warning shot" kind of thing.  It never happens that way.  Ever.

Somebody will die, with other saying, "I didn't mean to hurt anybody."  Period.

Totally agree. Problem with showing it you are then forced to make a choice. If you hesitate it can/will be used against you. If there is the least doubt, you have no business even owning one.

Better to leave well enough alone and stay out of the fracus. You'll likely live a little longer.

I have carried for years and have never been close to pulling it. Hell, most don't even know I have it. It is not a toy to show off to your friends either.

As for shoot to wing someone I'll admit its not for the average Joe, but to say it only happens in movies is incorrect. I've heard of it being done to disarm people or stop them from getting away, and both in real life situations. Of course you have to be very very good with a gun to do it and its only suggested for pros. I fully understand that a gun is meant to kill, I live in a small town in Texas, most kids around here own at lest two guns by the time they are 12. I never said I would shoot to wing someone. I was only pointing out to J that their are other options than shooting to kill.

And here is something my gun class teach once asked me. If your shooting to kill, lets say you hit the guy but he's not dead what do you do now?

Deciding to take someones life even in self defense is not something to be taken lightly.
