kodak Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 released today espn cancelling outdoor tv, replacing with soccer and other trash. the toll free espn complaint number is 1-888-549-3776. call let them know what you think. from what i read today, bassmasters will stay at certain times in hopes of selling it, but all other outdoors is gone. hunting, fishing, etc. Quote
GTrombly Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 do you have a link for this news? is it forever? Quote
Mike Z Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 FWIW check out ESPN3.com. Its their on line tv site. Today they hav the weigh in show from the BASS masters tourney. Not sure how long the program is, but I plan on watching since I don't have cable. Its nice that some companies are finally realizing the power of the internet and broadband. Quote
GTrombly Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 i looked at the espn website and it still shows outdoors being on the tv schedule Quote

Super User .RM. Posted May 22, 2010 Super User Posted May 22, 2010 Great Vid. I really liked the Q "Is this real life"... Tight Lines!! Quote
Osprey39 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Interesting news, funny video but what does this have to do with tacklemaking? lol Quote
bnwcrankin Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Just called and talked to them, the guy had no idea what I was talking about until he checked his faxes and said yes they are doing away with the outdoor show's. I asked where can I sign the petition to get it back! I figure enough people call in maybe they will think it might have been a mistake... Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 27, 2010 Super User Posted May 27, 2010 [movedhere] Tacklemaking [move by] five.bass.limit. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted May 27, 2010 Super User Posted May 27, 2010 I wish I could say that I was surprised. I'd be willing to bet they could get better ratings from other programming. Honestly, I'd rather be fishing on Sat/Sun mornings anyway. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted May 27, 2010 Super User Posted May 27, 2010 Sorry my fellow fishermen, but to call soccer "trash" and expect for a mainstream company like ESPN to save outdoor programming is quite laughable. Quote
Jake. Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Sorry my fellow fishermen, but to call soccer "trash" and expect for a mainstream company like ESPN to save outdoor programming is quite laughable. Agreed. Fishing shows don't have much of a chance against soccer matches as far as ratings go. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted May 27, 2010 Super User Posted May 27, 2010 Its a business, and I don't fault them for not wanting to continue to dump money into something that isn't selling commercial air time. The vast majority has been EPL soccer. Quote

Honestly, I'd rather be fishing on Sat/Sun mornings anyway. Pretty much what I was thinking too. I havent watched a fishing/hunting show in years. Quote

Super User fishfordollars Posted May 27, 2010 Super User Posted May 27, 2010 Good, the programming sucked anyway. Maybe someone that wants to make it work will buy it and we can get some decent shows. And, PLEASE, show them more than Saturday or Sunday mornings so the people that fish can actually enjoy them. Airing more than once a week is ok with me. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted May 27, 2010 Super User Posted May 27, 2010 Just as well, they've been showing the same show with Tom Brokaw, Michael Keaton and Lefty Krey fly fishing every Saturday morning...Enough is enough Quote
Super User South FLA Posted May 31, 2010 Super User Posted May 31, 2010 That's what I love about TV now, if ESPN kills its programming another channel will pick up its programming (i.e. Versus, Outdoor Channel, etc.) Eventually all TV channels will be tailor made to your lifestyle choices. Not long before the fishing channel pops up I bet. Quote
florida strain Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 yea.. but the fishing channel will be 90% saltwater :'( Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 1, 2010 Super User Posted June 1, 2010 yea.. but the fishing channel will be 90% saltwater :'( Works for me. Quote
Simp Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I only care about BASS and World's Greatest Fishing Show only because it is the Worlds Greatest Fishing Show. I'd rather have a full seasons of WGFS then Zona on Bass! Quote
