Super User skunked_again Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 shooting at the range tonight and my son is shooting my Ruger MKII. if you own one of these you know they are great shooters and hardly ever fail to fire. the thing starts jamming once in a while, i assume it needs to be cleaned. No. im watching my son and instead of a "CRACK" when he fires, we get more of a "POP". the pic explains the rest. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 that does suck! are you shooting handloads? Can you even handload .22s ? Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 that does suck! are you shooting handloads? Can you even handload .22s ? And if you could, would it even be worth the trouble, compared to buying 22 rounds..? Quote
IDbasser Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 that does suck! are you shooting handloads? Can you even handload .22s ? my mistake, just got focused on the pic. and did not notice it was a .22 :-[ Quote

Super User skunked_again Posted April 30, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 30, 2010 to be fair, i never said it was a .22 i popped the stuck round out with a cleaning rod. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 IIRC, the MKII was only made in 22 cal...at least a long time ago it was... Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 I would think that if the report sounds different than what you would think is normal, that you may have some bad ammo. Secondly, if you are shooting a cheap ammo like the Thunderbolt, quit. Give the gun a good cleaning and start using clad ammo so the lead buildup is reduced. The Mark II's are good little guns. FWIW, 22's are a rim fire cartridge not centerfire, they are not reloadable. Good Luck 8-) Quote
