I live in NYC, go to school in NYC- everything i do is in NYC (except for fishing). I have always wanted to see the south, the untouched parts of the USA. People always talk about vacations abroad, to Europe and such. I say why not discover the the good ol' USA? In my opinion the US has some breathtaking landscapes and regions in general. What do you think is the most beautiful part of our great nation?

That's up to personal perception but I couldn't agree more. The U.S. has a great diversity of landscapes, climates, sights, cultures, and people. You can take a vacation in our country and feel like you've gone to another. I would love to take a roadtrip to CA or even AK. I just recently took a roadtrip through the South as my first experience of that region.

As for your question, I'd say the west. There are some beautiful sights in Colorado, Idaho, Utah, California, etc.

I have to agree. I used to live in Los Angeles, and while there we traveled the west coast, saw Yellowstone, Yosemite, Seattle, Arizona, Montana...some unbelievable places.

I once drive big rigs long haul, 48 states. I love the scenery of the west where I live, but one of the most beautiful places I saw in my travels was the Lake Champlain area of New York and Vermont.

I love the secluded mountaintops of the Shenandoah Valley, in Virginia.

I love the beaches of North Carolina in the early Spring, before the crowds flock to them.

I love the grounds of Monticello.

I love the historic districts of Charleston and Savannah.

I love the rolling hills and horse pastures of Kentucky.

I love the point of the 3 rivers in Pittsburg.

I love the rich history of DC.

But, most of all, I love my back yard.  So, if you want to see the most beautiful place in America, you're more than welcome to come visit my family. ;):)

Man, America is great!

Hard to beat the areas around northern Champlain or the Blue Ridge Parkway area.

The rugged, ragged coastline of Maine.  The Grand Canyon.  The Sonoran Desert and Sedona.  The Shenandoah Valley.  The Everglades.  Point Loma, California.  The Blue Ridge Mountains.  The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.  New England in the fall.  Niagra Falls.  The list is endless.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

They always say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

From tubing on the Apple River in Wisconsin, to a mule train in Montana, to the Redwoods of Cali, down to blue bonnets of the Tx Hill country, to the fruit orchards of New Mexico in the mountains.

Most would think Big Bend National Park boarding Mexico and Texas would be one big desert wasteland and ugly.

I guess you never seen the desert flowers after a spring rain in the mountains.

Thats what I love about the US, just when you think you have seen the vast majority of the US, it changes seasons and its a whole new country to see all over.

There are so many great choices in the US.  I hope to hit them all one day.  Yosemite, and locations throughout the Rocky Mountains, all along the Appalachian trail, and even hitting through the swamps of Louisiana.  Lets not forget about the sites outside of the 48 most are thinking of.  Hawaii and Alaska offer a lot for the eye to behold as well.

The Blue Ridge Mountains in spring when the redbud and dogwoods are blooming.

The Blue Ridge in fall when the mountains look like they are on fire.

The Black Hills.

The Witchita Mountains in Oklahoma.

The Badlands.

Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. There is nothing more beautiful than floating down the South Fork of the Shenandoah river in the late spring/early summer. Of course I'm partial, I live about 4 miles from the river.....
