SDoolittle Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Is anyone else into Cross fit? I have tried it a few times in the past, but lately I'm really getting into it. I usually get off work around 5:00 PM and my night school classes don't start until 7:30 PM. For the past two weeks I've done the workout of the day every day between work and school and I'm already feeling so much better. I thought that I was in decent shape before. I do Army PT five days a week, but it just doesn't compare to what I'm doing after work these days. If you are serious about getting in shape, you need to check out cross fit! Quote
Boett43 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Heard of it, sounds pretty intense a couple of buddies who are into MMA swear by it. Do you have a certain routine you follow if so you mind sharing it Quote
Super User South FLA Posted April 15, 2010 Super User Posted April 15, 2010 My wife has been cross fitting for over 8 months now and I like the results. Went to a couple of her workouts and it is intense, you better be in shape before you start.....I think it is great for functional fitness, I think I heard the instructor mention it was based on Navy Seal type training. Do you have a certain routine you follow if so you mind sharing it There is no regular routine. You get a different workout every day and you never know what it is until you get there. Or you can get a workout of the day on one of the crossfit websites. Sometimes your workout may take an hour and sometimes it's over in a few minutes. Here are some examples: 1. 21 power cleans 21 ring dips 15 cleans 15 dips 9 cleans 9 dips This WOD is is completed for time. 2. 100 pull-ups 100 push-ups 100 sit-ups 100 squats for time Quote
SDoolittle Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 you better be in shape before you start Not neccasarily. I copied and pasted this from crossfit.com The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We've used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don't change programs. Quote
Other. Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 cross fitters tick me off. They are always in my squat rack doing some weird stupid exercise with girl weights. Quote

bweave09 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Crossfit is some serious stuff and if I'm not mistaken the workout is done in like 15 minutes too....where is my self-discipline? Maybe it's at the bottom of this Sweetwater IPA. I doubt it. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Used to do these all the time when I was in MMA, definately a great and quick workout routine to follow if you're trying to get in serious shape quick. Quote
Kimbro Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Crossfit is by far the most effective work out I have ever done. It has caught on like wildfire in the military. I'm getting the Crossfit Instructor Certification soon, as I am my unit's Fitness Program Manager. I go into every workout knowing I'm going to get my butt kicked, but it is strangely addicting. I've started taking a couple of my more out of shape Soldiers with me and even they are getting hooked on it. These are the same guys who dread Army PT every morning. Quote
