Agreed man. A lot of Zac Brown's songs have that same good feeling vibe that Jimmy Buffett's songs do. The 2 of them together singin chicken fried was a heck of a combo. Quote
Sfritr Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 What most people don't realize is that these guys have been around for a LONG time. they just didn't make it "big" until recently. I saw them in a bar in Utica, Michigan like five years ago playing for like 50 people and nobody had heard of them. Really good guys, very humble. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 My wife and I danced to "Whatever it is" at our wedding last year and also had our DJ play "Toes." You should have seen the looks I got from my mother when he says, "Lay in the hot sun and roll a big fat one." ;D Good times. Quote
1inStripes Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Will probably check them out at a local concert this July. I have a friend that wasn't impressed with their concert a couple of years ago, but these concerts are cheap to go to and Zach Brown Band has been inching up my favorites list. Quote
tholmes Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Really great band, IMHO. A breath of fresh air in the dung heap of what gets labeled as country music these days. > Resident grumpy old man. Tom Quote
simplejoe Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Alot of people also don't know, Zac has his own bar down in GA. He's been playing there for years, I've had their cd "the foundation" for 3 years now. I also have live recordings from his bar before they were signed. My wife's friend and her husband hang out at Zac's bar, so that's how I've been listening to them for year's now. 8-) Quote
Luke at Gouldsboro Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I'm going to see them open for Dave Matthews band in July. It's rare that you love the opener and the headliner. I'm psyched !!! Quote
CobTowne Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 The amount of patriotism that Zac Brown Band radiates is quite astonishing, because in almost all of their songs they have some tie to military. Even if a song of theirs does not directly say something about the military, it is always implied that they are talking about the military or military personnel. This song specifically shows a great amount of patriotism because Zac Brown is saying in this song that our men and women fight for us to have the freedom to continue what we do in the United States while they are over seas fighting. Two years ago, my brothers and I decided to go to a Zac Brown Band concert before my eldest brother went on a nine-month deployment. Since both of my brothers wore their uniforms the venue decided to let us meet the band after Zac Brown requested that they meet my brothers. My brothers and I went back to meet the band and the whole band was extremely happy to get to meet my brothers because it is quite the experience to meet two special forces soldiers that have at least a dozen years of military experience between them all of which have been in special forces units. Zac Brown and his band kept saying that they were so thankful for my brothers’ service because they would not be able to do what they do without people like my brothers. The band kept a huge American flag on the back of the tour bus as well as their transport trucks, which is an extremely patriotic thing to do. Zac Brown asked my brothers if they would do the salute during the “Chicken Fried” song, when he sang, “Salute the ones who dies, The ones that gave their lives so we don’t have to sacrifice” to show his support for the military and bring about the patriotism of Virginia during the concert. When the part came for my brothers to walk on stage and salute the flag and soldiers/veterans in the crowd, everyone got extremely quiet then started to chant, “U…S…A…” which was the most patriotic thing that I have seen at a concert or almost in my life. It was a chilling moment when all the other soldiers that were in the crowd and also the veterans saluted back to show their support and patriotism for the military and the fallen soldiers. This song by Zac Brown brings out the patriotism in everyone. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted October 15, 2019 Super User Posted October 15, 2019 Before my daughter went to be with the Lord we went to a Eat and Greet in Kodak. My daughter loved them as well as my wife. She couldn't eat due to her oral cancer but her smile from meeting them up close was AWESOME. Class act. 2 Quote
