Sfritr Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Effective immediately, Sega Gameworks of Detroit is officially closed. I was asked by my boss to call all of my employees (75 employees) to inform them that they no longer had a job. Today is the worst day of my career....... Oh and by the way. I will only be employed for the next two weeks. Gonna go home and get drunk :-[ :-/ Quote
NewAngler Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Wow. How many total employees were there? Sorry to hear about that. Firing one person is a bad day, can't imagine doing it to 75 people at once. Severnce package? I think its about time for Detroit to make an EVACUATION. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 It's a sad thing when people loose their jobs. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 Yep, a loost job is a horrible thing. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 29, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 29, 2010 They closed several locations today: Long Beach, Calif.; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit; Minneapolis; Indianapolis and Miami. Eight other GameWorks locations will remain open. The closings are part of a company restructuring announced today. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 Sorry to hear it man. Almost had to go through the same thing about a month ago and remember what I felt like; things worked out and I didn't have to follow through. Hope your people understand and don't take it out on you, I know you already feel bad enough. Quote
b.Lee Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Tough times, I was laid off also due t downsizing. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 This is not good news. I wish you the best of luck.Keep your head up,it's about all you can do right now.Hopefully things will turn around for everybody. Michigan is still in a bad place as far as unemployment goes. There is still hardly anything out there. Quote
Sfritr Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Glenn You are correct. the remaining locations are being set up for purchase from an outside buyer. The rest of us are being sold piece by piece like a garage sale. Unfortunately, no severence packages were given to any employees except myself and my sales director. Time to update the ol resume and join the 26% unemployment michigan workforce. Quote
Rebel Angler Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I can't imagine havin to tell 75 people they just lost their job as well as loosin mine. That really sucks man! I hate to hear that. Quote
