JigMe Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Recently, I have bought a tackle bag from luckyinkentucky and paid with personal check because he doesn't accept paypal. Well, I normally do not send check but I trusted him. He has received the check on the 25th of March, and the check cleared on the 29th. I have sent him several PMs regards to the shipments, but he said the check hasn't clear yet. This bag we are getting is for an 11 years old boy from church, that my wife and I are helping, both of his parents got laid off from work. And we are doing our best helping them out. Since he is on spring break right now, and his 79 years old grandpa is taken him out for fishing. My wife and I though it is a great idea to get him a backpack, since he is still on wheelchair from an accident and a backpack would be very useful. And thank god he will recovery, and hopefully he can walk again. I have given him my ID and password to log on our forum, so he can found out when his backpack is sent. For the past two day, he was logging on almost every hour to check on the message from luckyinkentucky. And today, when I come home from work, he called me and said, Lee, he hasn't send me the bag yet then started to cry. My eyes were sober, I was so angry. I was angry at myself that I have disappointed an 11 years old boy if my wife and I are able to afford another bag, then we would buy him another one. But we have our own financial hardship, sigh. Luckyinkentucky, if you have send the backbag then I am sorry about making this post. If not, this is morally WRONG. I have no other word to describe this, this is just wrong. Please let this be a warming to our friends on the forum, be careful. Once again Luckyinkentucky, I will apologize in advance if you have already sent the bag. Then please provide us with the tracking information. If not, this is just WRONG >
b.Lee Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Well I bought stuff from him also, so I would at least wait till Saturday before saying anything. But you do live closer to him than I do. I am expecting it take at least a week to get to me. He kept in good contact with me. I am not going to discredit him yet. From what I remember he is not a very mobile individual, so I would say give him a chance to explain or just wait for your package a little longer. If what you say is true, he ripped off a lot of people.

I do not want to dislead anyone, but hearing a 11 years old boy cry...really got me upset.
Super User firefightn15 Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 What I do find funny is I don't have his for sale thread in my favorites, which is what i usually do for notification on all transactions I make. So it seems he deleted the thread. I don't think he can delete a thread, only his posts, even if it was one he started. A lot of the time threads are deleted by the mods, especially if requested.
Super User fourbizz Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 2 days? You make this thread after 2 days? Thats not ok. Week minimum imho.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 1, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 1, 2010 Agreed. If you wanted it overnight, then you should have agreed to that at the onset (and paid the extra postage). Otherwise you have no reason to complain - yet.
JigMe Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 OK. I guess I was over reacting a little bit. Sorry, dont want to disappoint the boy. I know 2 days is a bit short, but it would calm him down if he know the package was sent. And that's all I am asking from him really, just a shipping comfirmation...

Once again, I have only asked for shipping comfirmation. 2 days after the check is cleared is not long enough to ship the item? I usually ship the same day, well that's just me. I guess, I am sorry.
preach4bass Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Since you know this boy from Church, perhaps this is a good oppertunity to teach him the principle of Proverbs 14:29.
b.Lee Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I really do commend what you are doing for this boy, but don't you think you got his hopes up just a little too much. I mean, it would have been better if received and gave it to him. Then it would have been a surprise, instead of giving him your account on here to see. Not saying what you are doing is bad, but just a little much for an 11 year old. And that bag if I remember correctly is the bass pro stalker bag, it is going to be huge on that kid LOL. I have one for when I am a co-angler.

b.Lee Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Its more like hiking backpack if it had an equivalent. It is quite large, but it is very durable so he should be able to use it for years and grow into it. You should provide him with some 3600 or 3700 series plano boxes, or tell him to buy some. Its fits eight 3600, 3650, 3630 or 5 3700 its funny I spent just as much on the boxes as I did for the bag and I bought the bag on sale during Christmas.

BTW, just because the money came out of your account doesn't mean that the check has fully cleared through his bank. Also, why would he trust you to tell him that the check cleared? He is likely following up with his own bank which takes longer. If you wanted it quickly you should have gotten a money order or something else.
Super User grimlin Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 I think a little PM from him would calm you down and clear things up.Communication plays a big key in these things.
JigMe Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 I agree on the communcation...and it doesn't take 5 days to clear a check. Hopefully everyone else has receive their stuff, ;D I might be over reacting a bit yesterday, but hey hearing that boy cry got me all pumped up.
b.Lee Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Check from different banks can take up to 10 days to clear. Where it looks like it has come out of your account, the person cashing may not have received credit for it yet.
Super User burleytog Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 Thanks for posting this. It warns others to not do business with you.
JigMe Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Thanks for posting this. It warns others to not do business with you. whatever...you would be in the same shoes, if u had a 11 years old boy on a wheelchair crying. and Blee, only take 3-4 business day. <----I worked for a bank!
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 1, 2010 Super User Posted April 1, 2010 You're over reacting as of right now. Two days is not enough time for normal shipping.
SDoolittle Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I can understand your frustration, but Burleytog has a point. I once sold an item on this site, shipped it the same day, and I emailed the tracking number to the buyer. For some reason the tracking number didn't show up on the UPS website and the UPS store I used closed for a the weekend before I was able to get any resolution. Turns out that since I dropped it off on a Friday afternoon, it didn't ship until Monday morning. The tracking number didn't show up because the item hadn't been shipped. Fortunately, the buyer remained patient until Monday when I was able to figure out what had happened. I am glad that I didn't sell that item to you!
b.Lee Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I think he gets the point now guys. No need to badger him, he was going off pure emotion it seems. Its ok we all make mistakes, and sometime we over-react. Its part of being human.
