I went to this hotel website, and they got deluxe room for 431 U.S. dollars. I don't know what all included, frankly I don't care. The 35,000 a night might be for the most expensive room...And the price on Website was listed in United Arab Emirates local currency.

P.S. I would actually visit United Arab Emirate. Only place in Middle East as of today I will visit.

There are millions of people in the world that don't have enough food to eat and they build elitest crap like this.

So, everybody has to be stuffed on ham sandwiches before over priced hotels are built?

If you are hungry, do something about it. Others do.

pretty sure i wanna go there now... :o

Just don't show any public displays of affection or anything like that. They arrest people for that over there.

Since kissing another person is a crime over there (which a couple recently found out), what penalty do you think that lady kissing the dolphin is going to receive?

Uh oh.

its not as bad as you might have read. females can wear high heels, skirts, tank tops. bikinis on the beach. holding hands, hugs, a quick kiss will not get you in trouble.

just dont make out in public, which is rude as hell anyways. unless, of course, its that kind of party. ;)

you can do everything up to but not including making out and NOT be arrested?!?!? How generous!

I realize it's not as bad as some other places in that regard, but it's no America (f*#& yeah!)

i have been to a few times and i wish America was more like them concerning laws. it is very strict over there and the really isn't any crime. if you go to jail over there you family has to provide you with food everyday. imagine all the money we would have if we didn't have to pay to feed 2.3 million criminals.

Stories like this really warm my heart. I'm glad

we don't drill our own oil so those guys can live

large. I hope you remember this picture every

time you fill the tank...I will.

Actually the UAE exports a relatively small amount of oil to the US.

And, they make more money off being a service industry rather than oil producer... I mean, yeah they got oil, but it not even close to amount that Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc have. Heck, we might have more oil in Alaska than UAE...

I mean yeah, oil got them started, but they been turning into a service industry because of declining oil. Oil money jump started their infrastructures, and after that they change their economic outlooks and decline their oil productions.

recipients are not important, it's the money

Dan is right, it is capitalism at its finest. You mean to tell me if you had the opportunity, money and structure to build something like this you wouldnt? I'm not quite sure I understand that.

I'm in business to make a killing and get rich as balls. If i had $xxx Billion to invest in something like that, I would. Maybe not in Dubai, but you can bet your sweet cheeks I would do it.

Ever hear the term, "if we build it, they will follow?" It holds truth, and I can see it from a MUCH smaller perspective. I'm in the apartment industry, and there was an building owner/ multi-family home developer that built three new LUXURY apartment bulidings in the GHETTO of DC. I mean, the slums, crackheads, gunshots, buglury is not uncommon in this part of town. Its now been two years, and with the opening of the Nationals baseball stadium crime has gone down, local jobs are up slightly, and his apartments are 100% leased, with waiting lists.

Genius. Their prices; genius. Anyone know how they did their opening weekend?

Please explain. This resort was a joint venture between a UAE-owned company and a South African hotel gazillionaire. I'm no money-man but I'm not understanding how that comes out of our pockets?

Dubai is losing money because they are using too much of their own oil, that is the same reason we and others pay more for it. Dubai is one of the biggest european vacation spots so it is a great place to open up a hotel like this.

No, because they are borrowing too much with not enough revenue to satisfy their obligation.

Eh, who cares..

The Arab economies are funded directly or

indirectly by oil money. The United States

has the ability to be energy independent

or at the very least, less dependent. I would

like to see our money used to strengthen our

country, not theirs.

ok, so you're talking about Arab countries in general, not UAE specifically

There are millions of people who live in huts with no electricity, running water, bathroom, etc.  but you're hanging out online on a fishing forum...  sure, it's a sliding scale, but don't be so quick to judge.
