VABassin'14 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I was going through a bunch of pictures that my Mom and Dad have taken over the years, and some of the pictures I found are amazing. Pictures of me when I just started walking, the fish that got me hooked on fishing, baseball pictures, old friends that have moved away, and many more.I didn't know looking through old pictures could be so much fun.... I feel old now. :-/ Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 28, 2010 Super User Posted March 28, 2010 Old? All my old pictures are in b/w ;D Quote
Red Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 My folks figured some day when they are gone that us kids wouldn't want to sort through a ton of pictures and decide who gets what. So they made up an album for each of us organized by decades in our lives. I love to look though it, it is great. Think I might go get it out right now!! Cliff Quote
moby bass Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 With the multitude of pictures that are taken today, at relatively no cost, they are seemingly unimportant....today. Wait 20years, 30 or even half a century, they will be priceless. I am fortunate to have some wonderful albums my family and I put together over the years, some of the photos dating back to the very early part of the 20th century. Back then, having a photo made of your family was a major event in some folks lives. Many people may have had only a half dozen or so photos made their entire lives. They are of immeasurable value now. Sadly, it's almost impossible to sift through the gigabytes of pictures now stored on computers to find the important ones. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted March 29, 2010 Super User Posted March 29, 2010 One reason I take so many photos is because there are very very few photos from my childhood. Mom & dad never had a decent camera (had a 110, a disc and a Polaroid). I've got around 40K digital photos archived from the last 10 years. And around 2000 prints from the old film days. I can't look at many old photos, most of them feature my grandparents. Quote

I'm the youngest of eight, so there are tons of old pics (B&W and color) of my oldest siblings. But once I came around my parents must have figured I wasn't worth the effort :'( My wife is a Creative Memories enthusiast, it's a company dedicated to scrapbooking, etc. She began putting together albums for each of the kids, I believe the two older ones have 4-5 each spanning their entire young lives, the youngest has 3 albums. Most of the pages are themed and the albums each tell a great story. I firmly believe that once they get to my age (44) they will cherish having these albums to remember their childhoods. Quote
