Fish Chris Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I've been doing a lot of photography, for the last several months, especially, ever since I got my new 400mm lens. These first couple, I just took today. 3rd year, juvenile Bald Eagle Caught one ! Hope you enjoy them, Fish Quote

Super User Lund Explorer Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 Awesome photos Chris! Questions though. Bodega Bay? - Bird Photos? Did you happen to run into a Tippi Hedren look alike? Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 Great photos, I especially like the last one. The action of the water is mega cool! 8-) Quote
soccplayer07 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Nice Chris. Which 400 did you get? BIF are always fun to shoot. Probably my favorite thing to shoot. Quote

Fish Chris Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Much thanks guys Hey nine miler, my lens is a 400mm F5.6, but I ususally shoot anywhere from F5.6 to F8. Lund E, Tippi Hedron ? Soccplayer, I have the F5.6 (the poor mans birding lens... only $1200) Wish I could afford the F4 ($6000) or the the F2.8 ($8500) .....but then again, even if I could, those lenses area PITA to lug around. Peace, Fish Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 Hey nine miler, my lens is a 400mm F5.6, but I usually shoot anywhere from F5.6 to F8. Veteran move Most guys will simply shoot these fast, long primes wide open, with no regard for depth of field. Your pictures clearly show intelligent aperture settings. The sharpness of the images is nice and tight, too. Its the difference between good gear taking the shot, and a good photographer making a beautiful picture. Very nice stuff! Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 Great pictures. Thank you for sharing them. Quote

For BIF I shoot f/8 -/11. Francho, you have a 400 too correct? It's probably my favorite lens although at times I wish it was a little faster and perhaps a little longer. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 A picture is truly worth a thousand words !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 Yeah, collecting dust....bought it for baseball, but found I really couldn't enjoy watching my son play from behind the lens. I use my 17-40, 100 Macro, and 10-22 more than all the others combined. And BTW, Tippi Hedron is a Hitchcock reference, LMAO....had to look her name up. Quote
THEbassmaster Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 these are awesome but i think i might like the pics of your bass a lil better Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted March 24, 2010 Super User Posted March 24, 2010 Yeah Chris, Francho figured it out. It was a reference to an old Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds! It took place ina small seaside community of the same name. Some of us old dogs just can't forget a blonde. Any Blonde! ;D Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Great pic's man I wish I could shoot half that good. The movie "The Birds" just scared the crap out of us as kids. It was creepy but an excellent movie. Quote

Fish Chris Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 Thanks again guys Oh, and BTW, "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock, was actually filmed in Bodega Bay, CA. And I can totally see why ! I shot there all Winter long. In fact, the Bufflehead shots I posted for this thread, were taken there Peace, Fish Quote
