moby bass Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Just curious, did you get your census forms yet? And if you did, are you answering all the questions, specifically name and birth date of your children. Just asking. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 yes, no to 4 & 8 Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Yes, answered all questions. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Man I was wanting to ask this same thing. Not sure yet what I'm going to do. This thing just seems creepy to me. Why do they need names it's none of their business who lives here. They already have that information on tax returns. There ought to be one and only one question on it. " How many U.S. citizens or legal U.S. residents live at the address?" Anything other questions ought ot be optional. Towns shouldn't get credit for population for non U.S. citizens. That might change their stance on the contoverisial legal situations. FFI Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Big brother is watching !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To answer your question . YES. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Yes, and sent it back the next morning. Don't want them coming to my home. Quote
Sfritr Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 YES but I didn't have my contacts in when I filled it out. After i put them in I realized I had answered that I am 1. Over 60 2. Black 3. Have 12 children 4. Am not a legal resident of the U.S. Do you think they'll come for me????? : : Quote
tyrius. Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 yes and I don't know. My wife filled it out and I didn't even look at it. As for names and ages of your children, you give that info to the gov't every year when you do your taxes. What's the difference if you give it to them one more time? Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 What really bothers me is the fact that they mailed every household a letter informing all of us the the census form was on the way. How many households are there in the US? 100 million? What did that cost; postage, printing, envelopes, envelope stuffing, etc? Had to be a couple of hundred million just to send out a form saying a form is being sent out. I say we should find out who's idea that was, and petition to get that dumb-*** fired. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 By the way, on the last census form I answered several questions with N.O.Y.B. None of your business. Quote

Super User Tin Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Not to mention the tens of millions spent in advertising on TV and the radio. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Not to mention the tens of millions spent in advertising on TV and the radio. Seriously...I heard an ad for the Census on the radio a few weeks ago...Why in the world do they need to advertise the census with commercials? Ghoti, me and my Dad were questioning the "pre-Census-notification" as well. Sometimes I am amazed by what some people consider good ideas to be... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 One government agency helping another's numbers.... USPS looks a little better revenue wise this quarter. Quote

Joe Boss Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I read somewhere the total cost of the Census is estimated to be somewhere between 13 and 14 billion dollars. Seriously can't we find something better to spend that money on Quote

moby bass Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Unbelievable is right. A 66x increase since 1960, only 5 censuses ago. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 18, 2010 Super User Posted March 18, 2010 Automation and infrastructure costs $$$. I see this kind of waste in big corporations all the time. I did a cost survey for a call center a few years ago. Each "seat" or employee came with a cost to the corporation of over $2200/month when you added everything up. All that so employees can check email and facebook. Would be cheaper to give them a crackberry and make them work from home, and that's assuming they contribute no value to the company, LOL. Quote
