whoopbazz Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I just cannot understand how some people like Yuengling. There is NOTHING that I like about it. There are SOOOO many better, light pilsner style beers. At the bar I often go to, they have a dollar night for Yuengling. I wouldn't drink it if they paid me a dollar each :-/ Killians and Fosters are others that I just cannot understand any demand for. Then there's Mic Ultra. What IS that?? It's not beer. It's something created in a lab somewhere ;D Sorry if I've offended any fans of the above mentioned beverages Yuengling LAGER Quote
whoopbazz Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Genesee Cream Ale OMG did everyone in their early 40's, late 30's get drunk on that their first time? How many of us stole those things from our old man and ran out behind the shed! Good times, good times...barf barf barf! Do they still make that stuff? Quote

Yeah, they still make it. a 30 block costs 13.99 at the Wegmans near my college campus. Whenever we are shopping for a party, I'll throw one in the cart, even though my roommates would rather drink Keystone light for some reason : BTW, I'm only 21, but when I was growing up, dad usually only had one of two kinds of beer in the fridge- Genny Cream and regular Gennesee. Being from Rochester, I guess he likes supporting local businesses lol. By the way, If you are a fan of bock beers, pick up some Genny bock if you can. Its' only available seasonally, and its not the best bock i've ever had, but at 5.99 a 12 pack, its tough to go wrong. You'll be able to recognize it by the green floral-pattern can with the goat on it ;D Quote
bweave09 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 I have really enjoyed this thread so far. It looks like I have some new beers to try. Is there such thing as a beer monkey? Quote
Bainza Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 If I dont got much money to spend I go with Miller Lite. I have found a brewer from West Chester area though...Victory Brewing Company. Ive had a couple of their brews and its pretty good. They got this one called "Golden Monkey." Its one powerful monkey...we were at Victory eating dinner with my gf's parents and her dad kept ordering me these. After about 5 I found out they are almost %10 alcohol! Quote
BassinSoldier Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Close call between Dogfish Head's 90min. IPA and Victory's Storm King Imperial Stout. Good to know there are other beer geeks here. Quote
swilly78 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I forgot to add one to my list. Shiner Boch, its good stuff. Quote

I had my first Vitcory brew Saturday. It was the Hop Devil and I really enjoyed it. I also tried the Genesee Cream Ale the other day, and its not bad for what it is. Quote

It's one of my favs. Now THAT's a good beer. I remember the first time I had a bottle. It was the late 90's, and I was partying in the parking lot at Alpine Valley, awaiting a Phish show. I think they were going for about four bucks, for a fatty bottle, in the lot scene back then. After my first sip, well, I can't really put it into words...but I knew I had found something special. b.Lee Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Any of the Chimay's I like the fact they are made by monks as well. Quote
Big Phish Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 For all you guys that said blue moon, you need to try Long Trail's Belgian White. It's unbelievable and totally blows BM out of the water. By the way your don't need an orange so you can drink it and maintain your masculinity. Quote
Stone Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 For our regular old everyday house beer, we drink Busch Light. Not my favorite, but it's ok. The best beer Ive had lately is an English beer called Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Can be tough to find, but is worth the search. We have a place in the city (Worcester Mass) that has a huge amount of different beers, and everytime we go, I'll try something new. A great way to try new beers. Quote
Jaheff Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 See you guy's at Stone Brewery tonight....lol MMMM,stone! Quote
bweave09 Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 See you guy's at Stone Brewery tonight....lol MMMM,stone! I'm jealous to say the least. I can't go out for Paddy's day because of lots of English work. Tonight is a Garnet and Black night. The garnet and black is poured like a black and tan, but with Killian's Irish Red and Guinness instead of Bass and Guinness. It tastes alright and I got the separation right the first time! Quote
