Hi BR,

This is Lynn, A-Jay's wife.

FYI- I've received Glenn's blessing for this post . . . .

We have entered our dog "Diesel", in a photo contest. The top three places of the contest win a monetary prize, ALL of which gets donated to a pet charity of the winner's choice! We live in northern Michigan, an area that has been hit very hard by the suffering economy. People are losing their jobs and homes every week, in turn they are having to give up their beloved pets. We have chosen the Otsego County Animal Shelter (the ONLY shelter in our area), a no kill shelter, as our charity of choice. They have a huge area of responsibility and do not have much as far as funding or facilities to take care of all the animals that come their way. We would really like to have a chance to help them help these homeless dogs and cats.

BR reaches SO many outdoor enthusiasts and animal lovers, who I am sure can feel for those that have had to give up their beloved pets and want the best for them, I thought this would be a great way to spread the word, get votes and win for the shelter! Granted there are thousands of pets in this contest, our chances of winning are slim, but we are doing what we can to shed some light on a growing problem.

Here is the link to the page. Vote for Diesel ! :)

Thank you for your time,

Lynn

P.S. Yes, to vote they ask you to "register". :-/ On a good note, you do not have to use your real name and you can "uncheck" the little box and you will never get anything in your inbox from Bissell, they respect your privacy.

P.S.S. Please take a moment and vote for the Deez.

This is our boy. :)

NewAngler, .dsaavedra. and Bird dog,

Thank you VERY much for your votes! We really appreciate it. To the rest of the outdoorsman here at BR, please find it in your hearts to vote for Diesel so we can make a difference in the lives of so many homeless pets.

As for the Deez...you have no idea how much he lives up to that name, hehe. Check him out.

Hello BR!

A special thanks to Swilly78, Capt. O, grimlin and phil (we saw your comment on Diesel's page) :) ! Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Every vote counts!

If Deez is going to have a chance, he needs more votes! Remember the real winners here will be the homeless pets at the animal shelter.

Let's go BR!!!

Morning Lynn, A-Jay,

I promise to get that signup and vote thingy done today, as it sounds like a great cause.

So is this the shelter?

With that breed of puppy, do you two get up to the Mackinaw Mush?

Keep us informed!

Steve

Good Morning Steve :)

We will definitely keep you informed, promise! Originally, we had six Malamutes (well, we had one wannabe in the form of a Husky, hehe), so we had dreams of mushing. Then we hit a "bump in the road" with my health, and everything changed. It is now out of the question. We like to watch from the sidelines though. The closest thing they come to mushing these days is dragging A-Jay around the back yard through massive mounds of snow ;D.

The Friends for Life link you posted is the organization that works within the shelter! Good find!

Thanks all for the votes, please keep em' coming. Pass the word to your animal loving friends. There are so many of you here on BR, we can really make a charge in this contest!!! Voting ends the 4th. Let's go Deez!

Have a wonderful day,

Lynn

Pssst Lynn, the vote is in the tally.

Even though the daughter-in-law has one of those wanna-be's who just happens to sleep curled up next to me every time I make it to Cheboygan, I forgive ya, I feel the same way about my ACD/Blue Heeler.

I'll have to keep that shelter in mind for the future.  My wife only let's me have one dog at a time, so there is always room to visit and support an extra shelter or two.

I'm already on the mailing list for the Ludington shelter were I got my latest ACD.  And there was this one time when WZZM-13 posted a story about a badly abused Lab by the name of Chance.....  Well, I'm on the Wishbone Clinic's list now too.  Did I mention the Cheboygan Co. shelter?   :D

And to think these guys worry about a silly bait monkey.  ;D

Hiya Steve,

No bustin' going on here about the wannabe's...we have rescued two Huskies, and one of them was actually from where?

DexterWelcomeHome08Oct2009016.jpg

That's right! The Cheboygan County Humane Society!!! Dexter was in pretty bad shape when we got him...Funny how that place is in the middle of the woods.

Thanks for the vote!

In the Woods?  And off the beaten path.   ;D

I always try to stop @ Tractor Supply for a couple of big bags of dog biscuits for a visit there.  But I have to admit that I leave those shelters feeling worse than when I get to them.  Too many sad faces, and I can't adopt them all.

Hello again BR,

Well, voting is over for the competition week that Diesel was entered in. He did very well and ended with 57 votes! I would like to thank those of you that took the time to check out the site, vote for our Deez and leave your very nice (and sometimes humorous) comments here and at Bissell.com. It was for a good cause. Unfortunately we did not win our week, so we will not be in the running to bring home the big prize to our local shelter.

Take care all!

Sorry you missed out on that big prize.  I guess Michigan already filled it's quota for prize winning puppies with that little guy from Mackinaw Island.

Give Deez a doggie treat for me.
