Tokyo Tony Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Guys, I've been getting into fitness lately, hitting the gym pretty hard, and watching what I eat. I found this website which is really good, and the link below is an article that I think is really good. Enjoy! http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpost.php?p=275935081&postcount=68 Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 3, 2010 Super User Posted March 3, 2010 That is the site I checked out before I started at the gym. I take in about 3000 calories a day and take in about 100g of protein a day via supplements. Between the lifting and Crohn's diet I pretty much live off chicken, white rice, bananas, peanut butter, and 10 calorie Vitamin water. In the past couple months I have packed on some pounds and have really gone up in weights, specifically my arms. The cardio is the worst part imo. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Nice! I don't think most people realize how easy it is. All it takes is a month or so of forcing yourself to get into a routine, then you become addicted. At least I've become addicted. I just bought a whey protein supplement after I learned about the importance of protein, as well as a pre-workout energy supplement. I'm not sure I want to mess with creatine, at least until researching it further. In the second half of 2008 I went from 220 to 180 to win a bet, but I was basically just starving myself and doing a ton of cardio. I'm sure I dropped a bunch of muscle mass too, but I just wanted to win the bet. Then over most of 2009 I went back up to 210, and decided to do the same thing - eating at a calorie deficit and doing a ton of cardio, while adding some resisance training. I'm down to 185, but after doing some research, I decided I'm gonna focus 90% on weights now and just do a little cardio, and I'm looking forward to the process. I never thought this would happen, but I seriously can't wait until I get out of work so I can hit the gym. Weird. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 3, 2010 Super User Posted March 3, 2010 I've lost 25 pounds in 3 months...It's all about watching what you eat. As far as working out,I'm picking up steel 8-10 hours a day 6 days a week.Plus my machine requires walking up and down massive amount of stairs. No reason to hit the gym for me yet. ;D Since I'm eating better so is my wife...she has me beat...30 pounds total so far. Super User Tin Posted March 3, 2010 Super User Posted March 3, 2010 I agree Tony, it becomes like an endorphin-high addiction. I love going and get pretty bummed when I can't go. Quote
slomoe Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I've gained 40 lbs since summer using Rippetoes starting strength and a gallon of milk a day. I'm getting ready to switch over to Wendler's 5/3/1. Looks like a great program. Quote

Right after i won VA state title in my weight class, i had some pretty good back injuries from deadlifting(my best event) but now i have to take a couple months off due to that which sucks. just be safe is the moral of that story and use correct posture when lifting. FordNFishinLover Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I too have been hitting the gym. Im in need of some weight loss, but im also wanting to build muscle/maintain my muscle i already have. After football ended i hit 300lbs for the first time of my life. An i knew this isn't where i wanted to go in life. The past 3 weeks i have been hitting the gym and watching what i eat. The more i do it the easier its getting, and i've also been really enjoying the lifting part. While i am a larger guy, i feel i am very strong also. I can bench 295, so over my weight, and squat around 385. After these past three weeks ive gotten my weight down to 291, so 9lbs lost. But i plan on completely sticking too it. My somewhat goal weight in my mind would be 250 right now. Tokyo tony, i enjoyed that article. Mainly because i feel it is honest and real. Unlike half the crap online thats just trying to promote their formulas, workout tapes, and ect... Quote
