done Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Was thinking this today as I am freezing with snow blowing around me. Put my card in...1. What is your zip code. Put it in, press enter. 2. Would you like a car wash? No. 3. Would you like to buy a prepaid phone card. No. 4. Would you like a receipt? Now this is only 4 question but I am freezing, and in a hurry, can they not put a "Shut up and let me pump my gas!" button? Nothing of any depth to this post, just wanted to vent.... Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I don't mind the zip code question because it helps prevent fraud. However, I HATE it when they ask me if I want a car wash. If I wanted one I'd get one you piece of s**t machine, and I wouldn't need your help doing it. Quote

FL Knifemaker Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Many gas stations have a $75 limit on a CC or debit card purchase around here as well. What a bunch of BS. I have to use two cards to fill my truck and boat. Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I understand the zip code but I avoid gas stations that have the questionnaires. There is one in Pensacola that has 6 questions before you even pump... 1. using a gift card? 2. zip code 3. car wash 4. additives (STP and a few others) 5. purchase a gift card code for next trip? 6. receipt Never going there again Quote

I have to use two cards to fill my truck and boat. At least you're filling up two different vehicles. My Suburban has a 40 gal. tank. It takes two cards (or two swipes of the same card) to fill it up. It was a real PITA when gas was hovering around $4.50 gal. Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 lol I hear ya stasher, I sold mine off after gas prices dropped. I had a 1991 Suburban 3/4 ton R2500 2WD with 454 TBI, 40 gal tank. Could pull a house off its foundation and take half a tank just to drive to the gas station ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 2, 2010 Super User Posted March 2, 2010 One day soon we'll have to push 1 to read the instructions and questions in English. Bet on it. Quote

steezy Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 One day soon we'll have to push 1 to read the instructions and questions in English. Bet on it. Theres a few stations in the Dallas area that ask for language choice. Quote

Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 It takes longer for you to actually answer all the questions than it does to pump your gas. I find that a lot of "indian" owned gas stations have a lot more questions also. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 3, 2010 Super User Posted March 3, 2010 One day soon we'll have to push 1 to read the instructions and questions in English. Bet on it. That is a reality around here, and the second language is Polish. ;D When gas pumps started with the whole fraud thing here, the only preventative measure was limiting how many times the card was used in a certain amount of time. On fishing trips, we would have several vehicles to fill, so we had a 'designated runner.' He would run from pump to pump with the designated trip credit card. We didn't think it was funny until we saw the same thing happening at a gas station across the street...it was hilarious to watch, especially if there was a snag to slow the guy down. ;D Quote

Theres a few stations in the Dallas area that ask for language choice. WOW!! not surprised, but still you know? To be fair, English isn't the official language in America..Just saying.. The gas station I frequent would asked for Zip Code and the other day I noticed it never asked for it anymore.. Just slide card in and viola you're pumping gas....I'm surprised you guys got limit on amount of gas you can buy. That's odd. If you used debit card with pin number, is there still a limit? Quote

I'd have to go inside and have the manager wave his magic wand over the cash register : This isn't the case at all the stations but seems like it's the direction they are all headed. Quote

Wow, that really is BS. I can understand a credit card, but debit card where it coming straight out of your bank account....really? I live in town of no more than 30,000 people. No gas station I know of around here with a limit on cards... Quote
