detroit1 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Am i slightly wounding that critter by NOT buying spoons, in-line spinners, buzzbaits, and big(hard) swimbaits? If i don't buy heavily-metalflaked soft plastics does he say OW! or something? Please list some lure types that you will not buy (anymore) and maybe we could slow that sucker down a notch or two... Popeye Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Nah. Mr. Bait Monkey is impervious to being wounded in that manner due to the offset of other stuff he knows we need/will buy. IMO:o) Quote
detroit1 Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Thanks Popeye, i kinda figured as much. I guess it's just wishfull thinking. :-[ Quote
SimonDM17 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I think there are some great ways to save money on baits. I just don't know what they are yet. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 28, 2008 Super User Posted June 28, 2008 Plastics will kill you faster than anything!!! Load up when you see % off sales,if you can afford. Just got 4 packs of senkos at Dicks for a little over 20.00 @20% off.Not too bad for Yamamotos. I dealt the monkey the biggest death blow ever recently. Thanks to forum member "jbasscus" I was able to obtain a last years model St.Croix Tournament spinning rod and a Shimano Stella 4000 reel to go with it for $150.00 retail around 730.00. The monkey is writhing in agony over that one but he will be back with a vengence Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 28, 2008 Super User Posted June 28, 2008 You guys still don 't get it, do you ? The critter is shielded and impervious to anything you throw at it, it has nothing to to do with "saving" or getting a good deal, it don 't matter if you got a 750 dollar retail rod n 'reel combo for 150 :, he still got you with 150, didn 't he ?, you say I won 't purchase expensive swimbaits, yeh ? but you go and blow 20,30 or 40 pops on soft plastics ( that most probably you don 't need ) because they were "on sale" and there you are thinking you escaped his paws, yeah ...right :. What counts is the action, purchasing tackle. Once you are in his paws you are like clay in them, he will get you one way or another. Sorry for brutally bursting ur bubble guyz, but in a world of insane tackle expenses I feel it 's my civil obligation to you fellow anglers to warn you against the evil mind tricks the critter plays with ya 'll. Cya, I 'm busy placing an order. Quote
