Donate the whale to PETA and let them take care of it.

But I don't think it's the whale's fault.

Whale meat tastes just like spotted owl.

From what I heard, he was wild caught to begin with. He'd probably be ok in the wild again. I'd at least give him that chance if the only other option was death.

I also read, that among wild Orcas, there was only one reported human death ever. They're known for not only not killing people, but working with them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_whales_of_Eden,_Australia

That's 3 strikes. This whale needs to go to whale prison...oh wait, it's already in one!

Free Willy!

News Conference from Sea World this morning.  Actually soon at 9am EST I think.  They will announce that the whale was beaten with a wet noodle and will be performing, business as usual, this afternoon.

What I find to be the most interesting thing is the almost complete lack of knowledge shown here.

This whale is not used in the actual shows.  In fact, the trainers never got in the tank with this whale.  The whale is used for breeding and research purposes.  He's also OLD and can not be released to the wild.  He'd die a slow death, so it would better to kill him than release him.

The first time this whale killed a trainer was when the trainer fell in the tank with the whale.  The second time the whale killed was when an absolute MORON hid in the Sea World park and then tried swimming with the whale after the park closed and everyone left.

The trainers know that they are putting themselves at risk when dealing with unpredictable animals.  They know what they are getting into so shouldn't we let them make their own decision?  Why does our uninformed opinion mean anything?

That's not at all what the spokesperson just said. They are contemplating a wild release OR a semi wild release like they did with Free Willie.  IMHO, they probably got some news from their insurance company that's woken them up a bit.

Or they will "contemplate" it for a period of time and then the average-Joe will move on to the next big crisis and completely forget about the whole deal.

;)

Spokespeople "say" a lot of things that never get done.
