My old dog died in his sleep last night.  He was fourteen years old.  Gawd, I can't believe how much I loved that mutt and how much I miss him.  After all these years he was a part of the family.   :'(

Yeah its tough.  Those puppy eyes you will never forget. I realized after many years having a dog is really like having a child.  You yell at them, feed them, take care of them, wash them, yell at them some more, praise them. Play with them.

Sorry to here it. We lost our dog a few months ago. I still look for him when I come in the door. I have been through it a few times over the years. Last one for me.

The pain of losing a dog is a deep one.  Sorry for your loss.

We have a tradition of making a shadow frame with various photos, dog tags, toys and anything else to remember them by.  It helps ease the pain and provides a nice rememberance.

Mike I'm sorry you lost your dog but be happy in the great life you two shared. I'm sure you gave that dog more love then any dog could ask for and it led a very happy life. So mourn, remember, and when your ready get another little pal. Give that dog the love you have to give and show it a life of the outdoors and happiness. I'm sure that dog will thank you for it with a ton of great memories as well.

That sucks, man.  I'm really sorry.  I've lost a couple dogs where it was worse than losing a friend or family.

So sorry.

Dogs are a vital part of the family fabric and losing one is never a pleasant situation.

Hang in there and maybe you will get another one.

Sorry to hear. Dog's don't care who or what you are, if you take care of them they are your best friend forever. No one person can ever be that faithful. What breed was he Mike?

Sorry to hear that Mike. I hope you're able, sooner rather than later, to get to the point where you think back about him and smile rather than mourn. For me that took a couple years.

Dude, I feel your pain. No greater example of unconditional love........ My wife runs an animal hospital an we have a house full of adopted pets!! I keep telling her no more!!  We love each as much as the next and try to deal with each little heartbreak as they occur. Be happy in the fact you were able to give as much love as you received from your dog. Keep the faith.
