Super User K_Mac Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 I'm a casual fan, but the changes in the new cars and rules allow for more exciting racing IMO. Many of you follow the sport more closely than I do. What do you think? FWIW I hope Mark Martin wins today. We old guys have to stick together. ;D Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 im still not sure we will see a lot of lead changes. the racing should be good though. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 Unless you like wrecks, no need to watch until the last 30 laps. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 welcome to the Cup series Brad. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 welcome to the Cup series Brad. Welcome? He won a Cup race last year. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 welcome to the Cup series Brad. Welcome? He won a Cup race last year. right, how many do you think he wins this year? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 This race is pitiful. Starting the season without a race track? Gimmie a break! Last year's tire issues and yellow flag finishing were awful, but this takes the cake. :-X Quote
I Love BassResource Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and blame the rain and the weather. Otherwise, it's pretty pitiful when the racing surface isn't even holding up. Quote
Carrington Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 haha one of the biggest races in the world and they cannot even maintain the track. i would love to see how much money they make from this one race, yet they wont even resurface the track. they really need to do that soon though. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 id lay a piece of 1/8 steel plate over the hole and spike it to the pavement. they could also just put a big red cone in the hole and wish the drivers good luck. Quote
Carrington Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 haha, some of the drivers suggested the cone idea but if someone hits it then they will get upset and cry so nascar cant do that idea. Quote

The big red cone would make for an exciting finish. I was liking the race until the track fell apart. Maybe they should just make it an endurance match. The last car able to cross the line wins. : Quote
Carrington Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 i dont know but i hope jeff gordon wins because he is my favorite driver Quote
1inStripes Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Wow, I figured everyone would be on here celebrating Bass Pro in the winners circle..... Also, a complete resurfacing of the track would result in even more boring racing. Its takes a while for fresh asphalt to cure with enough rubber for good racing. Quote
NOVA Angler Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 It looks like Kyle Bush is back to being a middle of the pack driver again. Congrats to Junior for coming from 10th to 2nd in one lap. That was pretty amazing. Fixed? : Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Keri Posted February 15, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 15, 2010 That was an awesome finish. Jr. made one heck of a move and did not take Jamie out. Jamie took the Bass Pro Shop car to victory, that is a great win for him and after last year he deserved it, so emotional and so great at the same time. Good job Jamie, congrats. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 15, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 15, 2010 That's awesome to see BPS in the winner's circle! Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 15, 2010 Super User Posted February 15, 2010 getting to the last 2 laps was like pulling teeth, but worth the wait. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted February 15, 2010 Author Super User Posted February 15, 2010 Over all I enjoyed the race. The 2+ hours of delay were unfortunate. Maybe there was no way of predicting/avoiding it, I don't know. It made for a very long race. I'm not sure allowing three attempts to finish without doing it under caution is a good idea. Maybe after three attempts you put the names of all the drivers on the lead lap in a hat, and draw for finishing position? Quote

Letting a Nascar race end under yellow results in the track and drivers getting pelted with flying beer cans, coolers and chicken buckets. They're manipulating the end of the race in order to quell the masses. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted February 15, 2010 Super User Posted February 15, 2010 The track issue wouldn't have been and issue if there hadn't of been so much rain. Same issue on 2nd race last season in Cali, so they used a concrete saw to place Perpendicular cuts in the asphalt so the water could drain down to the bottom of the shoulder. No traction in corners with wet spots. Congrats to the BPS car and Jamie McMurray. COT's made past racing boring, yesterday was like days of old. Made for good day of racing. As for lead changes, plenty of them, Jr looked like his Dadddy on those last two laps. A man on a mission, looks like Eury Sr has Dale on the right path to start the season. Quote
