jvox Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I cant get my swim senkos to stop spinning. I t-rig them like any other plastic, and the keep spinning. Maybe I need a stright shank hook?? I've been using Gama g-lock 2/0's with an offset shank. Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 5, 2008 Super User Posted July 5, 2008 I rig mine texposed on Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG worm hooks. No problem with spinning except if there is a short strike and the body gets pulled on the hook. The body needs to be as straight as possible after rigging. The 3/0 EWG keels nicely and keeps the bait upright. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 5, 2008 Super User Posted July 5, 2008 I use the 5/0 Skip Gap hooks and rig them straight. I have no problem with them spinning. Placing the hook in the bait on the center line and rigging them straight should solve your problem. Quote
fretfishman Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I rig them on gammy 4-5/0 offsets and have no problems with super fast to super slow retrieves. I'd say maybe you're letting some slack get into the worm? make sure you're rigging the body straight and you should be fine. Quote
jvox Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 Rigging them straight isnt an option..Too much veg. not to t-rig em so they're weedless. My worm is pretty d**n straight on the hook. I'm gonna try some straight shanks and see what I get. Thanks for the replies!! Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 6, 2008 Super User Posted July 6, 2008 Rigging them texposed is very weedless. I fish super-heavy pads and slop and don't have a problem. Having some exposed hook underneath keels the bait and keeps it belly-down. Try some 3/0+ Gamy EWGs. Quote
MNGeorge Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 The GYCB website suggests putting a florida style bullet sinker in front of the swim senko to actually attach the weight to the plastic. They claim better action than simply pegging a plain bullet to the nose of the bait. Since we rarely use this bait weightless, that has been what we have been doing until this week. We got some Owner Sled Heads and have been using them with the swim senko and have been enjoying very good results. They run true with absolutely no twist even at a fairly fast rate of retrieve. If you fish the swim senko with a weight, give the Sled Head a try. Quote

George Welcome Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 The spin, or actually wobble, is desirable. The bait will go back and forth, left to right, as well as the tail pulsating. This is normal. Quote
