The_Mad_Fisherman Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Next Sat. I'm going to be fishing a real big tournament on a lake that I'm not fimiliar with at all. I went to practice fish this past Saturday but on managed out about 5 lbs all day. A friend of mine told me that I needed to be fishing on bluffs between 15 - 20ft. with a 3/4oz black/blue jig. He suggested doing this with a spinnerbait too. What is your preference on fishing 3/4 oz spinnerbaits? The lake is usually murky to clear (2 - 5ft) visibility. Really rocky. So what do you suggest on getting big spinner down like that. Big blades, little blades, gold blades silver, blades, etc........... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 30, 2006 Super User Posted October 30, 2006 You might want to try a Ledgebuster, single willow blade. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted October 30, 2006 Super User Posted October 30, 2006 Terminator also makes a 1 oz version that is supposed to cast like a dream and get down DEEP! Check out their website... www.terminatorlures.com http://www.terminatorlures.com/06site/t1_1oz.html Quote
Dirk_Jig---Lure Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 You might want to try a Ledgebuster, single willow blade. LOVE those, thought they were my secret. Are those originally made for Pike do you think? My father has some s/b's twice as large for pike (not so much weightwise but profilewise) Ledgebuster, just the word gets me antsy to fish, haha Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 30, 2006 Super User Posted October 30, 2006 Actually, I only heard about them last spring. Mike Whitten (GYCB Inside Line) put on an exhibition at BPS during their Spring Fling. He had his biggest day EVER fishing a single willow blade Ledgebuster on the Tennessee River. I have only fished this lure once and although I didn't actually catch a bass, I did catch a monster drum! That's no big deal, but it convinced me that this is something I need to use a little more often. I plan to fish it extensively over the next several months. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I love it too as much as I'll ever love any spinnerbait for that matter, the thing I love about the ledgebuster is how sloooooow you can rooooooll. Quote
Infidel. Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Ledgebuster for sure but here are a couple of other baits that I like for deep slow rolling. http://www.***.com/descpageREVSPIN-RDRCS.html http://www.***.com/descpageSPNNICHOLS-N44MC.html Actually, you can retrieve the Revenge bait a little faster and it will stay down. Hope this helps. Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 If you want to fish faster, willow blades are the blade to use. Slower, colorado. Also, you do not need to buy a special bait. Just crimp a rubbercore sinker to a regualr spinnerbait to add weight. This works quitewell and does not interfere with the hookset or action of the bait. Also, Ledgebusters were designed for use in deep water for bass. They are quite poular on lakes like Kentucky Lake and Barkley. They can be slow rolled, but they can also fished very fast. Deep spinnerbaits fished very fast (thus requiring a heavy bait) can catch fish very well at certain times. It is a presentation that fish seldom see. Good luck at your tournament! Brad Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 for deep, also check out the Nichols .44 Quote
basser89 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 The best deep water spinnerbait I own is a 3/4oz Ledgebuster with a single willowleaf blade. Quote
