I just switched to them a couple of minutes ago.  Was paying $936 annually for car and truck and with Progressive with same coverage it comes to $606 annually.  I probably should have asked here first, but does anyone else have it that has needed to use it?

I have it as well, I went from over $260 a month with All-State o $140 a month with Progressive. I'm a little concerned with them though. A buddy of mine was towing a boat home from the dealership and flipped it. He had Progressive and is going through hell with them. It was a mid 90's Tracker and after everything was "taken care of", he got a check int the mail from them in the about of $86 for his trailer.  :o

I used to have Progressive on two cars, a truck, and my motorcycle and everything was fine...until I got hit by an illegal alien and they totaled my car. Since they couldn't go after the other driver, they decided to slip me the big green weenie instead.

It took several weeks to reach an agreement on my car's value that was even remotely close to what a comparable car would cost, with me having to provide receipts for everything that had been done to the car in the past year (including $3K worth of motor), and then they used that info against me when I tried to buy the car back. When it was all said and done, I walked away with a totaled car and a little less than $2K to find a suitable body to stick my motor in.

Even though I felt like I got screwed, they were still the cheapest around so I kept them for another couple years. In this time my rates went up every six months, for no apparent reason. When I called to complain about the rate increase and how I felt they had screwed me over my only accident, I was told, and this is a direct quote, "Well, you keep coming back."  I canceled my insurance with them that day, and switched to Geico. They were more expensive, but I don't care.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever use Progressive again. I'd rather drive without insurance.

they are one of the worst if not the worst of all the big name insurance companies out there. Their rates suck and for a year a and a half they kept raising my rate every 6 months even tho I hadnt had a ticket in 5 years or so. They told me it was a state wide increase and everyone had to pay it. Now I use a broker and they find me the best rates out of dozens of companies. As for the boat, you get seperate insurance for the boat so that if it is wrecked during tow , its covered. Thats a no brainer. My policy for my 20 foot stratos was 300 bux for the year and covers every scenario including 5 grand in tackle loss if my rods are in the rod locker and my boat/trailer gets side swiped or if they just get stolen. I also have disabled boat towing in that policy too, not bad for 300 bux a year.

I'll stick with state farm..have good rates, and after totally 1 car, and 2 motorcycles..I still get a low rate, plus...good service. ;)

As for Progressive...someone has to pay for all that TV advertising..

All of my insurance has been with State Farm for

more than forty years. On those rare occasions

when we have had claims, "State Farm is there".

Regarding costs, the company is very competitive.

Bundling all my coverage under one roof saves

money, too.

X2 on State Farm.   If you bundle home, car, and if you want life insurance, their respective rates are probably the cheapest.  And you get fantastic customer service and quick turnaround.  Between me, my brother and my parents, we've had 60 years with State Farm across four states and never had bad service or felt dissatisfied with how they processed a claim.

I have USAA.

So far, so good.

Very fair and wonderful to work with although the "personal service" I was used to has changed to "press #1 if you died; press #2 if you speak Mongolian; press #3 if you have gas; etc., etc., etc.

:)

Same here. My mother worked for State Farm for a long time. The key to insurance is, regardless of the company you choose, is to GO THROUGH A LOCAL AGENT.

It may be a few dollars more, but a good agent will go to bat for you in the event you need to use them. Cheap insurance is no bargain at all in the long run, as evidenced by the misfortunes of several of our members. Navigating through a messy claim is no place for an amateur, nor a Progressive rep located two thousand miles away.

Glad I only paid a month up front.  I may have to look a little harder.

"Press 1 if you died"......Apparently a long distance call. ;D

I guess my problem is remembering what I used to pay and comparing it to what I pay 25 years later.  Hell, in my school days $89 would get me 6 mo. of liability on my beater.

Used to have Progressive.  Had someone run me into a curb a couple years ago.  An adjuster was out at my house in a few hours, made some calls, said to drop it off at MY SHOP the next morning, and he'd have a rental waiting.  Ended up with everything fixed, and $65 in my pocket.

That said, I just rolled all my vehicle and property insurance into my homeowners policy.  Much easier.  A little cheaper.  I think its Traveler's Ins.

State Farm for last 20 years, best I ever dealt with. Personal autos, classic or antique autos and commercial my heavy duty trucks, when I was in business.

For those in Florida, check into having a wind mitigation inspection done, my H.O. insurance went down 50% after I did it.

I've never understood going with the low bidder on insurance coverage.

It's a matter of making every penny count this last year or two.  I know my driving habits don't guarantee me keeping a safe record but unfortunately I'm needing to dance with the devil a little.  The one thing I don't skimp on is bodily/personal injury.

I can understand that, but it's a lot like buying cheap underwear.
